I swear to god I can't deal with an entire olympics of Courtney's defense

In 2018, when both MBH and Larson were in China, Larson's offensive numbers were better IIRC. And MBH wasn't passing.
I don't think MBH's offense makes up for her defensive/passing deficiencies.

I mean yes but you’re acting like MBH is some awful passer. It’s a high bar to compare her passing to Larson and Krob. She is also more terminal than either of them so it’s not like she doesn’t bring anything to the table Kelsey is more terminal and efficient in the Turkish league than MBH this year (with worse passing and worse setting)

I mean it's also worth noting that MBH looks much better hitting off Carlini, but I think she comes off the bench if we need that offensive spark. Looks like our 2016 OHs will be back at it again.

Then why do people even want MBH to go? It sounds like nobody here thinks she can contribute due to her “weak” passing. Why not just take someone like Simone Lee with a huge arm if we are taking someone who can’t pass.

Hill is MILES better today than she was in 2016, especially at passing. Her offensive threat has dipped quite a bit on the NT. That was probably due to setting. Poulter and Carlini both had good seasons so I think this might be the year we get the old Hill back. I'm cautiously optimistic.

How terminal is MBH? Theres been matches I’ve watched of Vakifbank’s and she doesn’t seem all that terminal for an OH1. It seems like the US doesn’t have a truly terminal outside, but it seems that many think that Plummer can be that player (I also think so).

Passing is a premium for the USA system, but on her "on"days imo MBH brings solid termination and blocking. Plus she has the most experience with the team, you can't exactly bring a new OH into the fold this late imo.

Maybe Karch brings Plummer so that when Drews has one of her off days we can just send in Plummer to blow up people even though we rely on our OHs. I think this could become a reality. I will be shocked and frankly disappointed if she isn't on the VNL roster.

For what it's worth, I still think it's premature for people to conclude Drews can't score OOS. It's been quite a while since we last saw USA play. Think of how big of a jump she made the season prior.

I think when Drews is on, she takes smart swings OOS and can bring that consistent in-system termination. I wish she was better at blocking though. If she's having an off-day, we need an OPP who will at least be consistent and not err ur out of the game. That's kind of how I viewed the tradeoff between Drews/JT in 2019. Hopefully, JT can come back to the USA gym and get back to hitting the fast ball she thrived on and regain some confidence.
