I don’t see Callahan/Jones winning this match anymore. They lost it mentally, got two tricklers against them, and made the oldest mistake in the book by switching who they were serving to Brandie not because Sara was siding out, but because they - Callahan/Jones - started giving up points.

Maybe Slaes get past the hump tomorrow and win against Brandie/Sara like how T2 won against Cribb today.

Callahan/Jones look strong right now. Hughes and Wilkerson look disinterested. Mati just came out and said "this team is a mess right now" then went on to criticize the mental approach of that team. Very blunt, not mean, but accurate. Callahan/Jones arent quite good enough to blow them out, but a top team would have done it by now. This is good opportunity for Hughes/Wilkerson to sort out their issues but they arent doing it I can’t remember the last time I saw a lefty at this level playing left side for significant portions of a match. Mati was right about this team being a mess. This is a team that’s usually all smiles, but they looked super discouraged today. It’ll be interesting to see how they come out tomorrow. Callahan/Jones played well but just couldn’t side out when it counted. A great run for them these weeks but I wonder whether we’ll still see them together next year.

I loved hearing that commentary. Totally agree with their comments about Sara switching sides so many times. If she wasn't passing Brandie in a good spot for on two, then the right side makes sense for her since she will have to swing anyways and is more comfortable on the right side. I also liked the commentary about Callahan and how she ran out of shots to throw in the game. Although her line shots and kills were effective in the first set especially, once they picked up on it, she had trouble getting her cut shot and cross body swings etc. It'll be nice to see her work on that in practice and develop more in that aspect.
Overall I think Jones and Callahan finished really well!

I think the loss honestly can be very beneficial to her in the future -- sometimes it takes a match like that to refocus and redirect effort

It was a great measure of where she is and where she has to go. She was on the phone with Evie as soon as the match ended discussing exactly what you stated here. Right back to training with the men on the men’s net Tuesday working on those things. The guys have been awesome pushing her - she’s learned a lot from them

Their set record in this series is 12-12. Very disappointing. Other than the 3 matches they have played v Ateam and MHPavs, they have had the best blocker and defender in every match but have struggled repeatedly. They dont play well together at all. Hughes is weak on the left, she can have a good match or two, but then loses her ability to sideout. Brandie also constantly makes errors and poor sets. I cant think of a single way either makes the other better. I dont see Callahan/Jones splitting. The times I have watched them play it was never very clear who the best player on that team was. Some matches, even some games, Traci was better, others Chrissy was. In the final match, Traci was awesome on offense and defense early with Chrissy taking over when Traci was struggling late. Shame that Chrissy couldnt convert that match point swing, I think their season, already a success, would look very different if that ball hadn't been blocked

I imagine with no more events likely for at least three months (especially if travel to Europe remains restricted), it will be difficult for the players to maintain their motivation and some may be tempted to take some time off.

Rooting for Claes and Sponcil to stay focused and win over Brandie and Sara

Cam asks Dain why people serve Claes over Sponcil and the way Dain prevaricates over saying "Kelly is inconsistent" is why Alzina and Bishop are such a breath of fresh air.
