Feels like the momentum switched when it went 9-8 instead of 10-7 because they held a two points advantage for most of the match. Lets hope your women do a little better.

I went to see the fantasy thread and saw you picked my boys and girls this week. Too bad Dalcena didn’t live up to their hype this week. And I really can’t believe that Trevor actually won with that IG post!

Also to note, this was Dalcena’s 100th tournament together. So would’ve been pretty special to get the W. Oh well.

We’re gonna be hearing about this win from Tri on the Sandcast for some time.

Final Thoughts:
Perhaps Dalcena’s off match against Cribb in the semifinals was an omen. They couldn’t fight off T2, who came in fired with tons of confidence because they were eliminated and had lost to the same two teams twice in the last two weeks. I mean Trevor guaranteed a win before the tournament even started. This WAS their last chance to fight and make a statement for themselves before who knows when the next tournament is. So they came in and they won, handing Dalcena the only loss of the entire Champion Cup series in which they played 12 total matches.
A little redemption for them as they defeated both Cribb and Dalcena this weekend, as well as ChaCha and Hyden/Casebeer. This is a long win from Tri’s last one with Hyden. Hilarious how Taylor Crabb said last week on the broadcast “we always win them” and he can’t say the same anymore. I sense a lot of bragging happening within the three 🤣
Rejuvenated Phil looks great. I 100% agree. Unfortunately Nick couldn’t side out like how he did last week in the Wilson Cup. But I’m glad to see them on the court like youngsters enjoying themselves and the sport, rather than “going to work and getting the job done” in the last two seasons.
I just wonder when the US men’s Olympics run will resume because it’s getting interesting, as we can see from this week.

Super stoked for Trevor and Tri. Trevor is just a ballsy boss with his guarantee. Either way he could care less. Tri and Trevor show at times why I think they could be the best US team and they played like it this weekend. They play with so much emotion which is refreshing to see from the US side. Really hope there's more tourneys this fall.

I couldn't decide who I was rooting for during most of the final, but I was really happy for Tri and Trevor when they closed it out. This win really meant a lot to both of them! It's also nice to see that they are continuing to improve as a team. I thought their defense was noticeably improved from last season throughout the three tournaments, and this tournament they finally put it all together. They are the only one of the top US men's teams that still has real upside, so hopefully they can keep getting better. (I guess Budinger/Schalk also has upside, if they count among the top teams.)
It was also great to see Phil and Nick rejuvenated over these three weeks. Hopefully they can continue to find that passion and motivation if/when international volleyball comes back next year.

I thought ChaCha made a pretty good case they are the 4th best, they beat Casey 2 out of 3 and Billy/Stafford twice. I think Chase has a lot of room to still grow so they can get better, and Chaim may also improve. I felt like he was a stronger player with Saxton so maybe now that he is back on the FIVB he can get back to that level. That said its a distant 4th and anytime they got near a top 3 team they usually took a beating, although they did push Jake/Taylor once.

With such a close match, how many net points might Phil have garnered with more options? I mean, Nice passed SO MANY that could have been handled, I often was thinking "Did he set that to his buddy just to be a nice guy"? Maybe I think it is easier than it is (Is it, for Phil?). Anyway, glad to see T2 win, but, really, a few more options and they go 3 out....no? CHANGE MY MIND....hahahaha
