actually, i have a question - for those of us streaming on ESPN+, will we be getting the pre + post shows? i will rage if it's just the game. Could change depending on watching live vs a replay but I am right there with you. Through ESPN+ onto a Hulu/Disney+ package and there’s actually a solid amount of upcoming on-demand volleyball including the Fairfield match. Usually a handful of UH women’s matches on ESPN in a season. Feel like it’s always CSF or UCR but anyways if every game each weekend is consistently on the schedule, I guess it’s fine, but i definitely don’t want the quality to drop and the pre/post show is absolutely part of that. looks like the start time is about 2 hours before the game should start on ESPN+ so we have hope! i see that the nm/fullerton start time is when the game should be starting.

As far as I’m aware, it’s the spectrum steam you are watching. It’s just via ESPN +. You are not watching ESPN filing it, with their announcers/camera crew etc. so I wouldn’t see why not

i don't know about that. from the vid of the setters, looks like mylana is setting on the a-side Maybe both will play and UH will again run the 6-2…which they started the season off with in 2019. i see the middle/setter 6-2 as the most plausible. i don't think igiede and williams have a slide that can dominate matches so it's better to run a 6-2. was mostly replying that i don't think it's lang's to lose. i do think it's even between the two. my prediction ro1: lang, wagoner, westerberg, igiede, van sickle, demirtas. ro4: byrd, williams sub in hanawahine liberos out westerberg and demirtas. wagoner gets the start for me because she wouldn't necessarily need to be terminal. there's going to be the firepower out there. she just needs to make sure she's not costing points and helping with ball control. but considering this should be her junior year, i hope she's made the improvements to be terminal. i don't think johnson is too far behind, knocking on the door to fill that role.

I like Leoniak instead of Demirtas because we need passing. I don’t think Demirtas can pass. Tiff could pass but if she is the OPP, I rather she not pass. With BVS, Wagoner and Leoniak in there there will be three decent/good passers. All three of these girls can pass all six rotations if need. Gong/Kyra can enter in certain rotation to take one of the hitters(like Leoniak) off the passing rotation and let her focus on hitting. I think in 2019, when Hellvig struggled passing, they took her off the passing formation and let her just focus offensively. I think Martyna could be Hanna Hellvig part 2.

Idk if we see the 6-2 pursued that seriously this year because the setters are so different. I think the only real reason we do is if we have more pin hitters that need to get in than the current 3. Connection is going to be the most important thing going into the season and if a 6-2 makes things more chaotic, especially for the foreign players that might not immediately click with the new system.
BVS is likely one of the OHs and I also think Westerberg is almost a for sure at OH or OPP at this point. Who is in the last pin spot probably determines where Tiff goes.
(Mia, Riley, Martyna = TW @ OPP/ Dermitas, De Goede = TW @ OH/ could be either for Akana)
I had originally thought Gong had the best shot having practiced with the sand bows but it seems like Kyra is getting more of a spotlight in recent posts as compared to last season where we were hearing about the new line up configuration pretty early on.
Also, let’s remember that our passers in those lineups were Rasmussen, Van Sickle, Ross, Wagoner, Helvig. All exceptionally good or at least experienced passers, even the freshmen in that group. This year it would be more Freshman and more new pin hitters who are untested passers and I don’t know if the coaching staff wants to throw all that onto the floor at the same time with no libero for added consistency.

I think Martyna could be Hanna Hellvig part 2. it wouldn't be the exact same 6-2 in 2019, more like lang's 6-2 in club where the middles and setters are opposite (which ram has said is a possibility) gives the middle attackers the most consistency with their setter as all three rotations are with the same setter. the passing line will be bvs, wagoner, and whoever wins the libero so westerberg and demirtas don't need to pass at all.

Just signed up for ESPN+ and watched LB vs Pepp/ Cinn vs Pitt on demand on ESPN+. I guess Pitts setter won't be Akeo as starter, but another setter. Can I copy and paste from ESPN+ matches on here without getting into trouble?

ESPN + is not available in Europe. You can't use your own VPN either because the European credit card still won't work. tested it. So it would be cool someone would upload it to Youtube

ESPN + is not available in Europe. You can't use your own VPN either because the European credit card still won't work. tested it. So it would be cool someone would upload it to Youtube If you find YouTube vids or accounts lmk lol i hope that uhvolleyballfan keeps up their youtube channel. as of now, it's not shutdown, and some have mentioned that this past 2020 men's season is on there. i'm not sure if the retirement was "official," or if they were just thinking about it. i hope it's the latter. i recall that they said they were committed to uploading the vids through the 2019 season, but as we all know, the 2019 season was cancelled (for the women). and with 'no fans in the stands' for the foreseeable future, the vids are more valuable than ever! i know there were some fans/viewers who weren't always appreciative of the time/resources it takes to upload these videos. In fact, i think the youtube channel sometimes received negative/demanding posts from folks who felt uhvolleyballfan wasn't uploading the videos fast enough. (it's amazing/ridiculous how 'entitled' some people can get ... a nd i'm not accusing the person i'm quoting either! just trying to link the conversation together!) so maybe if we show some love/appreciation enough, perhaps uhvolleyballfan can be convinced to come out of (or delay) their retirement? ... they really do provide a valuable service! i know we're all grateful for it, even if we all sometimes forget to say 'thank you' every now and then.

cindyluis has a really good blog with frequent updates. She is continuing her legacy. Jason Kaneshiro at the Star Advertiser has been doing a great job as well.
