Well that was entertaining! Interesting that Cook says Nebraska is NOT playing a non-conference slate and any long-distance travel is largely discouraged because of financial reasons. If Nebraska, who markets and brings in more money for volleyball than any other program is closing in for just a few conference teams, I have a hard time seeing how the at large teams are selected via any "objective" measure like the RPI.
Zuhn looks like a quality arm on either side of the pin. Great for depth. Callie is losing her starting spot. They need to bubble wrap Hames because the white setting was just not very good. Speaking of the white team, that guy playing should have challenged the starting lineup more with higher quality offense. He was the White's only real offensive option for much of the match. Take a swing, make the red team earn it.

Impressed with the play of the freshman, and improvement in Zuhn.

Does everybody still think K. Meyer is way behind in development? I didn't see it last night. I think her athleticism/strength will carry her to new heights. I think Caffey would have looked even better with better sets.

I think Caffey would have looked even better with better sets. Cook mentioned she has adapted way quicker to their system than he thought she would. He had been worried about her not having her last season of Club to improve but she has looked viable. Also, when pressed about a middle who can block especially well vs. a middle who can score, Cook said in a 5-1 he prefers the latter. Callie ain't starting, y'all.

I think Caffey would have looked even better with better sets. Cook said it during the scrimmage: the only way to slow Caffey down is to set her too low. That's the only reason she had any errors -- mediocre, low sets. She would've destroyed the court on the Red team.

Based on last night, Callie is the 4th best middle on the team.

I would be interested to see the box score. I only watched about half of the match, but from what I watched, Nicklin sent like 70% of the balls to the left side (and Kubik specifically). She maybe set Jazz like 3 times?

She maybe set Jazz like 3 times? According to the OWH no official stats were kept. But those numbers came from somewhere.... But I agree. Jazz was definitely in the bottom tier of swings. Kubik by far had the most. Im not sure if Lauren or Zuhn would be #2.

Meyer surprised me a lot last night. She looked like she was ready to play. Caffey was impressive as well. Callie will probably losing her spot.

I also remember Lauren (Cook) asking JC if he prefers having a strong blocker or an offensive MB and he was leaning towards the latter. Not saying what will happen but I'm glad that we have more depth this season.

I am down with Cook's idea of a 5'9" and under team. He should have switched up the teams for a fourth set to 15 with all the talls on one side and the shorts on the other.
