Sorry I don't think George Soros or any of his offspring have much to do with American culture. In fact, they are spending billions $$$ to tear this country apart and destroy it. Watched half a set and couldn’t get into it... those uniforms are hideous and the play wasn’t exciting at all. Give them some credit, they're doing the best with what they have and also in the middle of this pandemic. I honestly wasn't expecting much in the beginning, but the more you understand how the league works and see level of play increase from day one it gets interesting. It isn't perfect, but it's something which is a start. This is a test to see what works and what doesn't for upcoming seasons, which I hope is able to continue. |

I really like the uniforms. They look comfortable, colorful, and are a simple design.

From looking at how they did it during softball, it was top 4 point scorers for the week, not cumulative. I'd guess that is they do it again. I just went back and checked. This isn't accurate. Cat Osterman was captain every week despite not always being in the top 4. It was the cumulative Top 4. |

Captains are cumulative? that's the lamest thing ever. (even more than the 4th captain picking first) Larson is never not going to be a captain now. Weekly captains would make things more exciting, more dependent on how you play that specific weekend (and give some of the players who didn't start this week a chance) I disagree. If you're watching the chase for the overall points winner, and the majority of points are based on winning sets and matches, you want the cumulative leaders on different teams so they can compete against each other. |

I disagree. A lot of this stuff is, "it's never been done before, so take your best guess and see how it turns out..."
But I think both cumulative points and 1st captain picks last are important elements of the league. I think that ideally the league feels a little like a Queen of the Hill deal where it's hard to stay on top. If somebody (and obviously we're looking at you, Jordan) just totally runs away with the league, that's the worst scenario. If the same 4 players are always captain, that's a bad scenario.
Larson with a 150 lead over #2 has a pretty good shot to retain captain spot, but likely only 1 of Lowe, Edmond, and De La Cruz will stay on. A 2-1 win gets you 140 points to your opponent's 40, so if Edmond or De La Cruz beats Lowe, then they'll most likely pass her into #2. And I think making the captainship almost a disadvantage means that you have to do well to stay on top.
So far, I like how things have been set up, but we're only a couple practice drafts (and the scrimmages had an equal play time rule that made things a little different) and one real draft in. We'll see how it goes tonight. 15 minutes until go time!

As excited as I am for "pro" volleyball does it feel a bit 2000s to be pitting women who are supposed to be on the same team against each other? This whole "at the end of the season one woman will be crowned" is so stupid. Put actual teams together and let us watch them get better as a team - this isn't tennis or golf. And the whole individual scoring system is so skewed in favor of outsides is it any surprise who the week 2 captains are? (I'm counting Lowe as an outside since she is a 6 rotation lefty playing oppo)
Hate to be a negative Nance here as I'm genuinely excited to watch these ladies play I just wish it wasn't so complicated.
