“Wreaks from the top!!!” Excuse me?? Because they’re promoting equality and inclusiveness? How could that possibly be a negative thing. These are the issues that are important in American culture, and professional sports are a part of American culture. Good for them for using their platform in a positive way. Don't forget the Soros boogeyman. The next thing you know there will be a fully funded caravan of Brazilian players headed for the southern border. Fortunately most of them can jump right over that stupid wall... Lets get back to chat about this league, so I don't have to remind you guys who they built a golden statue of. Talk about weird total Orwellian Crap!

Captains are cumulative? that's the lamest thing ever. (even more than the 4th captain picking first) Larson is never not going to be a captain now. Weekly captains would make things more exciting, more dependent on how you play that specific weekend (and give some of the players who didn't start this week a chance) Can players be captains more than once? I hope captains are limited to once per season. I agree using cumulative points to pick captains is not the best but I am guessing that using weekly totals would not change the outcome much, I think DLC, Larson Edmonds and Lowe are going to be as dominant just about every week. I had an idea. What if one week for one of the drafts they have a few fans draft the teams? They could offer a Gm level membership (limited to 4 spots) and charge like $1000. Maybe even $5000? Real life fantasy volleyball. Depending on the price, I'd be willing to give it a shot if I had two or three partners. What do you think?

I know the players wouldnt like that. Would be messy and not in a good way

That would actually be a good idea to get fan engagement, they should auction off a "fan" week and 4 slots. Obviously they would have to have some measure of controls to prevent crazy teams.

Is there anyone else out there that is a little disturbed by the New World Order feel to this league? Did anyone watch the opening ceremonies? Listen to the motivational speaker who coordinated the foot stomping/clapping? The constant talk about race and inequality. I even heard Kevin Barnett and Salima dropping pronoun advice. Not to mention the funding coming from George Soros's son. As much as I love the sport of volleyball and a lot of these athletes I don't see myself getting behind this venture. It wreaks from the top!!! Delete this garbage. Shame on you.

I don't think it is likely for the captains to stay the same week to week because set points/match points matter so much for the leaderboard. 2/4 of the teams will lose games, and then other players on winning teams will have a significant advantage, even if they aren't stellar themselves. It is hard to be high on the leaderboard if your team is losing, and in 2 games, 2 teams will always lose. Sorry for english not being good!

I'm a big enough volleyball fan to ignore it. But it certainly makes me affects my viewership of women's soccer and basketball. I don't notice it much in tennis because they tend to have the exact same broadcast structure as the men's matches. The Starlings interview in the middle of the match Sunday is a good example. I LOVE everything that Starlings is about. They are a phenomenal organization doing a ton of good. But I'm not tuning in to a telethon. A lengthy interview while the volleyball is played in the background is just annoying. If I tuned into this as a casual sports fan, I'd think this was a charity promotional event, not a professional sports broadcast.

Watched half a set and couldn’t get into it... those uniforms are hideous and the play wasn’t exciting at all. I guess I’m a traditionalists and there seems to be way to much going on with this league...

I don't like the interviews happening while the game happening either. They interview softball star last night, it is nice to hear about her accomplishments but I wish we could do that during ad or TV break, not in the middle of the game. It was a full interview, maybe 5 minutes long and disrupted the commentary of the game.

Sorry I don't think George Soros or any of his offspring have much to do with American culture. In fact, they are spending billions $$$ to tear this country apart and destroy it. Or have you fallen for the "philanthropist" charade like everyone has with Bill Gates?

The Starlings need exposure like this to continue the great work they do. If it costs us a few minutes during a match so be it. They cannot provide the services they do without $$$. I applaud AU and how they are leading with activism and providing money to charities along the way!

This is a good point, lots of people watch AU matches and if they hear about Starlings it will be good for volleyball to have more diverse player.
