Well, I'm not going to try to convince you. But it was a really impressive first set. Turns out it raised false expectations, but hindsight is 20/20. Also, while the whole thing sucks, it sure felt more like Kentucky earned it rather than Texas lost it. I'm not saying Texas couldn't have played better. Just that it wasn't the central issue. It was an amazing match that someone had to win. Unfortunately that team wasn't Texas. I'm the guy who screams at the TV thinking that somehow this message is sent to the players on the screen.
If it was 3-2 would we feel better or worse?
i am also convinced people can hear me when i'm yelling at my computer monitor, especially the refs

She balled out this tournament and I think she will only level up from here. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fields playing 6 rotations if she gets the passing because I know she can hammer the ball out the backrow. Going to be interesting to see the right side battle between Phillips and Malual though. You also got Williams and Parra so the gym is going to be very intense in the next 4 months.

Yeah, the Parra factor will really come into play this fall. Four months? Really?
Everyone will have finished their shots. Gregory at maybe 50% or more capacity. Players who just were introduced to the team a few months ago will get to know each other, hang out together after hours without masks....will be even tighter.
In theory.
I think.

after the wisconsin match, bri mentioned that the team had been in a bubble for basically 9 months. talk about trial by fire.

I like the lineup we used for the tournament, and we have the potential to win with it clearly. And to have that continuity of a team that has been there before with the same lineup is appealing.

Well, the biggest heartbreaks as a sports fan have been the close ones that didn't get it done. Also, in following the volleyball program, there have been so many other times in a similar situation where it didn't feel like the team even showed up. That wasn't the case tonight. It didn't come down to a single play. I think that's the biggest what if when that happens. And then the other is when it feels like the team was overrated. That didn't feel true here, either. I just feel like I underestimated what Kentucky would look like in the championship game. To me, the main thing I came away with is just respect for how good the Wildcats were. It all sucks. I hate it that Texas couldn't come out on top. But I've felt so much worse. If it came down to a 3-2 close fifth set loss, that was determined by a single last play, that would have been tougher in my experience.

Well, that's kinda the point isn't it? Fall lineup or Spring lineup? And if you go with one, will others think they might do better elsewhere?
That's just pure blather. No backing facts.

I know Jhenna has improved so much this year and brings a different energy to the game but do yall think Texas hits the portal for a setter? A taller one to be specific. Kentucky really abused Jhenna on the outside and I would say her height is the biggest downfall of this team. I really hope Cabello gains confidence and takes over or Texas gets some height in the portal. That will take this team to the next level.

I think setter is the only position Elliott even attempts to get in the portal this off-season. And with a backcourt that will only get better and the hitters Texas has, who wouldn’t want to!

Everyone and especially Jerritt was so excited to bring in the #6 player and the #1 setter in Ashley Shook because she was a taller setter. We watched her for a year and a half just not quite cut it. At the end of the day sure it's nice to have a taller setter on the block when that part of the rotation comes around. We saw that with Kentucky and Madison Lilley. But the first thing is you have to make the sets. I don't know that Texas can't bring around a better setter through the portal. But I do feel confident they can't bring in a setter who will work harder, or show more fire and competitiveness than Jhenna Gabriel. That's a hard thing to measure.

i'm not sure what might be the best choice. jhenna has certainly shown that she is capable but, unless she can miraculously grow taller, teams will continue to go at her.
