Hmmm, with the possibility of Tokyo 2021 being cancelled, I wonder what the chances are for Dain to convince Tina G to get a free Master’s Degree and come back for the 2022 season. Sad to hear this news if it indeed impacts Tina and April (and Kelly if she had qualified).

Sad to hear this news if it indeed impacts Tina and April (and Kelly if she had qualified). The IOC and Japan came out today to say that’s fake news. They’re fully committed in trying to working together and push this to happen.

Yes, but the whole debacle highlighted that 77-80% of the Japanese populace wants the Games postponed or cancelled. That’s an awful lot of public sentiment to work against to keep the current dates. And they’ve also said in the past that the Games won’t be postponed again. It’s either July/August or not at all.

2021 USC Beach Volleyball Roster finally updated: usctrojans.com/sports/womens-beach-volleyball/roster1. Tina Graudina is on the roster as expected. 2. Joy Dennis is on the roster as reported. 3. 6’2” grad transfer Bo Chulo from LMU. 4. Harward and Scoles haven’t gone pro yet and are on the roster. 5. Celebrated first year class: Megan Kraft, Delaynie Maple, Olivia Bakos, Caitlin Cummings, Hallie Carballo, Lauren Harrison At what point do these girls who are so old still play with 18, 19 and 20 year olds? It is strange and kind of embarrassing to still be playing undergraduate beach vb. Go pro. Playing against TG ,and some other seniors across NCAA field, is privilege for younger players. I hope they, younger players, use this opportunity to talk Tina and learn what takes to be successful student athlete. Right now she's SUPER STAR in my book. Way to go TG !

Tina (with Anastasija) and April (with Alix). And Kelly Claes if she makes it.

I don’t think you can break up Harward/Scoles after all the offseason work they did with each other. I saw many of the girls working hard through COVID in South Bay and the OC and the tournaments they played did not have a ton of competition, also in out fo the way spots. Most of these teams play all summer long in tournaments without COVID. I know the Nourse twins played because I saw them playing against pros/Hughes and others, so did other teams from UCLA, Cal Poly, etc. I think he may split them up. Harward struggled last year in the 1 spot while Halgren performed well. Scoles won for Hawaii. The Texas girls were training all summer too, I kept hearing about FSU, Pepp and SC girls training hard in Texas.

I understand that many players were training but Harward/Scoles were traveling (to Wisconsin and Florida, at least) and playing events, establishing friendship and a bond. I just think it would be hard to split them up now.

From what I hear, Scoles is very good but I watched Harwerd struggle last year and from what I understand she very impressed with herself when you listen to the podcast where she is not very nice about Halgren who is a great player and should have a better shot with Scoles than Harwerd. Or if Halgren plays with Tina then maybe Sammy will play with Scoles and Harwerd will play with Dennis.

Probably time to move on.

Can’t say much about Harward, it seems like she did enough to impress the coaches to put her in the top flight despite being on the lower half at LBSU. Maybe she’s found some confidence in Scoles that masks her weaknesses? It’s her second year playing as a grad student, I don’t recall seeing the same type of comments about Poletto/Cannon when they were there. But then again they never publicly criticized their teammates.

Last year was tough and Dane placed her at 1 pos which was like someone else said, giving away the 1 and banking on 3, 4, 5 to win. Sammy and Kyla both struggled last year too in the 2 pos, wonder if it would have been different with Halgren and Sammy, I bet they would have won together. Hopefully he doesn't undervalue the Nourse twins this year again, they won 9-2 record, which is the best on the team. Also, no one has spoken about Olivia Bakos, she is a winner too. The Halgren sister performed well too last season and I am sure she is stronger this year.

I think it's just nonsense to state Harward "publicly criticized her teammates". Here is exactly what she said at the 12:40 mark. volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/81581/hailey-harward-scoles-waupaca-champs Geez, must every word that comes out of athlete's mouth be this artificial, robotic, team building, only 100% positive, brainwashed BS? She praised her teammates and expressed an opinion that their focus should have shifted from "getting better" to "winning". OMG. People can listen to it and and decide for themselves.

That was really more of sarcasm on my end especially with some of the comments towards Harward in the USC Beach 2020 thread after that interview. I have no issues with what she said about her teammates, if you go to that thread that was the main argument that people used against her. I want to see what others have to say about her now especially with the vague comments, such “that’s what I’ve heard” ... As far as the other things, experience, growth etc .. I guess we’ll see what happens this season when everyone is “rusty” and has had about the same amount of time off.
