While I don’t disagree with most of your points here, what would be a better way to recognize deserving “all-tournament” players? I can’t say that I’ve always agreed with the decisions (and I am not sure how the team is selected either?). Just choose the best players who played the best. As a rule, although maybe there would be some once in a generation type exceptions, these players should all come from the top two flights. I just don't understand how you can have a team playing in a 5 slot make an all-tournament team over the best team in the country that was undefeated. I'd also suggest choosing players rather than pairs. As long s the NCAA doesn't keep decent statistics choosing the best players (rather than pairs) can be a bit tricky. The "eye test" sometimes misses some of the steadiest performers. Not having statistics is a disservice to the fans, to the players and to the coaches. The AVP does decent stats allowing for comparisons.

A player’s hitting percentage is directly influenced by how good the sets are. How good the sets are can be influenced by how good the passes are. If a player has a great % on second hit kills, then isn’t that more often than not related to playing with a great passer?

I dont think the all-tournament team should be based on the best teams or a team from each pair. It should be based on which pairs, regardless of flight, contributed most to their team's success. A point from a 5 is just as important as a point from a 1 pair. No doubt the 1 pair is better, but if they finish 2-2 in the tournament and the 5 pair finishes 4-0 with an upset or two to help their team win, then they deserver the recognition. To me, its about whose play is most affecting the team's success.

It takes two to tango. But a block is a block and an ace is an ace. And attack efficiency will be helped by a good setter and digs are easier to come by with a top blocker, but these two stats still allow for better comparisons. over time. Add the "eye test" since statistics occasionally can mislead

Congratulations to all of our #2021Trojan graduating #USCBeach STUDENT-athletes! Don't see Julia Scoles in that group. Julia Scoles might not have had enough time to complete her Masters requirements by May/June. Can’t read into that graphic too much as we (without inside info) aren’t sure who will return or not. Very impressive that Mollie Ebertin and Haley Hallgren completed their Bachelors in three years. Right now, my very early, wishful, speculative guess for next year’s pairs: 1. Tina Graudina - Sunny Villapando 2. Julia Scoles - Hailey Harward 3. Megan Kraft -Delaynie Maple 4. Caroline Schafer - Sammy Slater 5. Nicole Nourse - Audrey Nourse or maybe it will be: 1. Tina Graudina - Megan Kraft 2. Julia Scoles - Sammy Slater 3. Caroline Schafer - Sunny Villapando 4. Delaynie Maple - Hailey Harward 5. Nicole Nourse - Audrey Nourse Who knows? 🤗

I can't see Kraft playing lower than the 2s. She was just too impressive at the 1s with Graudina, and given that she can apparently either block, split, or even play defense, I imagine she'll be the next fixture at the 1s for USC.

Its a great line up, because it pairs players with a lot of experience together as partners. Every team would be tough to beat even for the best teams in the country. . One problem? I would imagine that Freshman Colby Bennet has a spot somewhere. Maybe you leave Kraft with Graudina and pair Villapando with Bennett, Maple with Schafer and leave Scoles with Slater. But that creates another problem. It leaves Harward the odd girl out with no partner. Every coach should have this problem. Maybe you rotate Maple and Harward with Schafer. Which ever pair produces greater than go with it.

I’m confused. I thought Tina was a junior. She’s graduating already?

How can Harward have any eligibility left? I thought she played 4 years indoor at LBSU.

How can Harward have any eligibility left? I thought she played 4 years indoor at LBSU. She redshirted her junior year of beach at LBSU and transferred before the spring of 2020 so she was supposed to have only 2 seasons at USC. Beach Seasons:2017: Freshman 2018: Sophomore 2019: Junior (Redshirt Season) @ USC 2020: RS Junior 2021: RS Junior (COVID Season) 2022: RS Senior (If Returns)

Wasn’t there this weekend but at the CBVA Women’s Open in Huntington this past weekend, the Nourse’s went on to beat Harward/Scoles & Sparks/VanWinkle on their way to winning the tournament. Props to them! I’m sure there were some good games
