It’s gonna be a sweep for USC! In that first flight the "jitters" went away after dropping 0-1 in the 4 & 5s-- this USC team really TURNED IT ON at all pairs from then on out...

Not sure if this is supposed to be shared/if it's already known info but USC is live streaming each court on 3 different instagram accounts. Here's one: www.instagram.com/uscbeachstream1/ the other ones are just replacing the number with 2, and then with 3

Social media apps even come with a share button for convenience...

Congrats to USC.
Was anyone surprised at UCLAs serve receive? It was super shaky and way more aces than I would have thought went down. Maybe the serving was super tough.
I was also surprised at the heat factor. I know both of these teams are super solid, but wow, almost all hitting and very few shots. Pretty impressive.

Yes, great wins today! Total confidence booster. Still a fun atmosphere with fewer Bruin fans. Wish a public bathroom had been available, but technically no fans were allowed.
Primarily, I was watching courts 1 & 2 so don’t give much credence to my thoughts about court 3.
My impressions: 1) Harward-Scoles pair is pro level. Hailey has tremendous instincts and was able to cover shots much better than most of the young ladies I saw today. Both she and Scoles can really get up and pound the ball too. 2) Graudina-Slater will continue to get better the more they play together. Thought Simo-Denaburg pair needs even more time. Tina’s serve has improved from 2 years ago. 3) Hallgren-Kraft just are too talented for most Three pairs. Didn’t see much but did see Kraft blocking well. 4) Nourse twins are for sure the best Five pairs SC has ever had. In two sets against UCLA, they had only one service error and work so well together with few outright mistakes. They can’t hit as hard as Scoles-Harward, but had many impressive spikes. 5) Dennis-Maple need more time together. Impressive that they made the right adjustments in both duals after losing the first sets. Still, they tend to make a lot of unforced errors. Hope they can get their focus on by the end of the year. 6) Didn’t see the first exhibition match but the second did look particularly good when I was able to focus on them.
I’ll have to look up when the last time USC swept UCLA 5-0. Might be a first. ‘Edit: 2016 Championship squad swept the Bruins early in the season. Coach Weaver was part of that losing side. 😆

Last year's 6-5 team would not have made the adjustments and earned this result. Lineup changes and adjusting to whatever changes Dain brought as a coach probably contributed to that.
This win and the fashion of it - having to overcome deficits - shows an early season maturity that bodes ill for the rest of the country. Getting Tina back is obviously a big boost and reason for this, along with the addition of Scoles and the chemistry she and Harward built in the off season.
I can't wait for the LSU/FSU trip out West later this season for the East meets West duals.

This is great, should be an eye-opener for Blanton as to these two moving up. I appears Nicole may have been injured and just coming back with that brace, maybe that is why they were put at 5 just for the start. Many comments about Joy struggling and Delanie also struggling. Tina is so strong, anyone can play with her and look excellent. .

Completely agree, but it is a bit unfair that all of these girls are so old and you would think they would want to be moving on with their careers and not continue and continue and continue playing undergraduate volleyball. Let the young ladies that are in the correct age group play.

Pretty sure head coach has the final say as to who the school nominates for these awards... it's not the conference just blind-siding the coaches with their own research/choices. Please.

What... on earth are you talking about? What everyone else was talking about at the matches between SC, Slo and UCLA. USC is carrying 20 on the roster this year, 18 last year, 16 the year before. LSU has 28 on the roster with 10 seniors! FSU - 24, Cal Poly -24... This is a product of a Covid year off and players making the decision to return. We all talked about the ripple effect of returning players and extra years. Why so surprised now? This will be felt for the next couple of years. And especially this year with no AVP to speak of yet. Sounds like bitter Bruin talk or parent frustration.
