Interesting line-up for Penn State. No Wildman, Bonger, or Fischer.

Interesting line-up for Penn State. No Wildman, Bonger, or Fischer. Seems like they along with Mason are treating the non-EIVA matches as their fall scrimmages to see what they actually have. Since the EIVA will never get an at-large it makes sense, will only 'hurt' them in a meaningless ranking poll for them.

It makes sense with a minimal amount of matches being played the coaching staffs have to see who can do what. Polls will be polls. They'll playing each other 2 more times so we may see some other combos on the court.

Seems like this year with Covid, possible cancellation of matches, starters having to sit out with Covid issues you would want to win every match possible. This year is like the wild west, with everything up in the air, and you should bring your starters every game. I'm sure there is another way to look at it.

Pav would never ever do this in a normal year but he isn't alone in floating lineups deep down the bench. You will see this a lot. League play is the only thing that matters.

With no fall scrimmages and slim to no chance at an at large it makes sense to play around in non conference. Mason got to see their future opposite play well and a true freshman OH get 11 kills on .474 hitting. Not a bad way to lose (and really they should have won... they let set 3 slip away right at the end).
Pavlik knows his juniors are great, why not check out the rest

Ethan Talley was on the 949 18s team that won their 4th national championship in 2018.
