BYU takes the second set 25-16. I didn't see exactly why, but Bower is out, and Hifo is setting.
Edit: Bower is back in for the third set. I guess they just wanted to get Hifo some playing time.

She just said that Bower is a "very good blocker."

I can't believe they don't have better camera angles for this challenge. I'm disappointed in BYUtv.

He just said that Oklahoma State had a volleyball team. I honestly didn't realize that they don't have one. They have equestrian but not volleyball.

BYU finishes off the sweep 25-20. Gneiting had another great match with nine kills an no errors on 13 attacks (.692).

Cougars looking good so far against Michigan State. I expected a closer match MSU playing without three of its starters. They all played yesterday though.

Just finished watching the BYU-Michigan State game after being out of town. Very impressive showing by BYU against a good team with some good athletes. To be up big at some point in every set and to sweep them was impressive to me, even if some starters weren't playing as posted above. It might have been the most complete volleyball performance I have seen from them in a while in every facet of the game, with outstanding serving keeping MSU totally out of system, a stout block taking most of the sting out of their hitters, insane defense from all and an incredible performance from Madi Allen (well deserved WCC player of the week award) channeling her inner Mary Lake, Koerber doing Koerber things, Bower doing her thing (which we may begin to take for granted), and a surprisingly strong performance (to me) from our outsides. Wonder how long it will be before Livingston is the first option at the outside. Regardless, it was the complete package. Well done.
I will be intrigued to see if BYU can play at that high of a level in a much more hostile environment against a very good Pitt team and an explosive Ndee. A part of me expects a very different outcome there, but I keep telling myself to never count out a Heather Olmstead coached team. Just ask Stanford, and how they felt when their "revenge game" against the Cougars didn't go as planned a few years ago in Maples Arena. My guess is that this is too tall of an order for us, but I truly hope I am wrong and am excited to see what happens regardless. Go Cougs!

BYU going to the Big-12 should help recruiting. It may also be easier to see some games by new means of streaming.

BYU going to the Big-12 should help recruiting. It may also be easier to see some games by new means of streaming. I agree on recruiting. I mentioned this in another thread, but I only found three players on BYU's all-time roster who were from Texas. I think that will change going forward, as BYU will now be playing several matches in Texas every year. And of course, being in a P5 conference always helps. As for watching volleyball matches, it might actually be harder to watch the ones on the road (at least without paying extra). The WCC's broadcasts are free, whereas I think most of the Big 12 has their tier-3 rights bundled with Big 12 Now, which is part of ESPN+.
