Don't worry, marn will soon be providing us with the definitive recruiting list for libero and ds in the coming years. Then the passing will be great. That's funny. In all seriousness--who is the last really good libero that came from Utah that played for BYU, Utah, Utah State or Weber. Ciara Parker??? And her senior year was in 2010 or 2011 I think.

I know I am sure I am missing someone between Parker and now--probably a Ute lib I am forgetting? Forgive me, my "Utah club coaching window" was relatively short. The last Univ. of Utah player to win a libero of the year award that I remember was Jackie Morrill--I liked the Morrill sisters and they were Utah high school girls for sure. There was also a good libero just after the Morrill girl but I can't remember her name and I think she was a Utah girl as well.

She's from Salt Lake City.

Ciara Parker's senior year was 2015. She was a key member of the team that went to the national championship game in 2014. Edit: Oh, maybe you're talking about her senior year in high school? In that case, it was 2012.

I think BYU had a few who were decent DS/L types, Sydnie Martindale, MaKenna Santiago and Danielle Stetler who was a better version of Abby Dayton but still recruited as an OH but had to move to the backrow for passing. Utah clubs aren't known for developing elite L's/DS or setters. Pin's and MB's are more up their alley. Utah probably has an uphill climb this season. I think they only have 3 MB's on their roster and that is the position that has set the BYU offense apart from Utah. Wouldn't be surprised if Utah is a middle or below middle Pac12 team.

I think maybe you're talking about Connie Dangerfield? She's from Salt Lake City. She was good Yep. That is her. I really liked her. I thought Jackie was good too and also from a volleyball family. My point though...it has been awhile. So, not withstanding Marn's "musings" you can't fault BYU for missing out on some elite libero that is a local high school product that went and did something special at say...San Jose State. That being said, to the more important point -- I agree, passing needs to be addressed--like yesterday.

Speaking of passing, Erin Livingston put up a story on the team's Instagram account indicating that she has been working on her passing the most while training with the US Women's Collegiate National Team. That reminded me that BYU in all likelihood will have a new pin passing six rotations, now that the ones they had the last couple of seasons have graduated. It seems like Livingston may be the most likely option for that. Also, another exciting thing for BYU is that Livingston actually has three more seasons of eligibility, since she redshirted in 2019, and the spring 2020 season didn't count for eligibility.
