I really don't care about Whitney Bower's height, or for that matter, Erin Livingston or Heather Gneighting's listed height. I care about what they touch--again why I am so high and have always been a fan of Livingston (used to be Anderson when I watched her. I heard something about his a while back, but I don't want to just speculate. It actually came up when BYU chose Stowell over Jardine (Wisc. and now Utah)--remember Callahan was initially a walk-on (or at least that's what her club coach told me). At the time, I was pretty keyed in on the SoCal kids because of Livingston (Anderson) and then Stowell and Callahan. I keep bugging BBG about this ... but I would really really wish I could find this info out about lots of BYU players. I have heard that BYU is anal about keeping track of this and even measures approach touch at summer camps of its recruits as it is a "metric" that dictates many decisions for a team like BYU--again a program that is so stat driven.

That is so cool that RJP was in town!!! Great picture of the future cougars too!!That Davis girl is great too!! On the club v instagram there is a clip with Brielle Miller passing to Silina Damuni who sets it to Mia Lee who then just kills the ball- at Nationals I believe. The Harvey sisters were named to the All tournament team and their libero- Kambree and Silina Damuni were named to the National All Tournament Honorable Mention team. I think there were quite a few of them at the BYU camp the first week.

You are right about her not blocking better regardless of the height listed in the program/website, but at 5'6" she would be a quick scouting report blip by any opposing coach. That is the reason! Do you really think opposing coaches will be fooled by an inaccurate roster height? If that's true, why not just list her at 6'2"? If they haven't played before or put in a ton of scouting time, yes!

#1 BYU isn't going to take a rec from me and #2 if they were ..... they would already now the names of those DS/L's on V's teams. Don't fret about it, while you may not know the names, others can figure them out. Well, you're finally right about something. I will bet you $100 that Kaieva Johnson never makes an all conference team. Do we have a bet? Have you seen the Johnson girl play? I am not giving you info that Johnson is an all conference player (we don't even know what conference Utah will be in) but I am saying that she is has higher upside than most of the BYU backrow recruits over the last 4 years. Miller does also. I don't see a problem with either one of the girls, but if you remember, I said that if I could dictate a girl or 2 at L/DS for BYU I would have recruited the Allan girl and I would also recruit the L off the V 16 team who is a far better athlete than Miller or Johnson. Johnson has better lateral movement than Miller. Miller has a better serve than Johnson and they can both dig good balls. If you have to move quickly side to side Miller will struggle. Miller benefited from a much better blocking front row on her V team because of their athletic ability rather than good technique. Johnson was left on her island to sink or swim with girls who simply weren't taught to block correctly or held accountable for not doing their job. #12 has a big time serve and could be a diamond in the rough. I would say she is also better than the average BYU back row player. Why not move the oldest Bower off the roster and move a new girl onto it? You already know that the elite 8 programs would do with that issue but, Heather won't because it is a Bower. If it was a Wee or a C Whitney they would be gone.

[/quote] Parents say all kinds of things but if the Carlson's thought they were splitting up the teams evenly and told the players and parents that, it is amazing. What top 10 club ever splits ..... or even attempts to split a top team at all? That V1 team had 4-5 girls on it that shouldn't have been on the roster and the 2 team had 2-3 girls that should have been on the top team. Oh well, that's their club and they can put monkey's on the floor if they want to. If there was any competition in Utah with other elite clubs, V would start to shrink. The coaching is suspect in very crazy ways on the top teams. Actually, I think several of the lower level coaches are way better coaches than the owners.....who shouldn't probably be coaching a team in a club that big anyway.

I have never seen her play and know absolutely nothing about her, other than you think she is good. I am willing to bet based on my lack of faith in your skill as a talent evaluator. I care not what conference Utah may play in, or even if she stays at Utah or transfers, even to a D3 school. My wager proposal was unconditonal; I say she will never be all-conference no matter where she plays. If she makes any all-conference team anywhere, you win. Agreed?

Board is not quoting and posting correctly.
What I know from first hand knowledge is that they told the parents/players the teams were equal and both “ones”. What I believe is that the Carlson’s did not believe that but wanted to tell the players/parents whar SOME of them wanted to hear. And what I also believe is that SOME of them believed it and some knew exactly what was going on. And while yes, it’s a business, some business practices are “interesting”. And I agree that the options in utah are limited as far as clubs, and practice space is probably the most limiting as far as clubs expanding.

That does seem pretty accurate according to what I have heard, but my kid plays on a much younger team. I know some parents on the top team and they pretty much had no question about it. They knew what was the top team all along because their kids would not be playing on anything but the top team. I think the 2nd team had some parents that may have believed that the teams were equal. True on the limited space for Utah players though.

LOL!! I think its because BYU season hasn't quite started yet and Club V happens to have 3 recruits on one of their teams with more potential recruits coming our way. It is pretty cool to hear the national recognition that team and players got. But, yah... Go Cougs!!

It is pretty cool to hear the national recognition that team and players got. But, yah... Go Cougs!! Lol, yeah. It's just that the discussion has veered away from the BYU commits on Club V to internal Club V politics, which is kind of boring. In an effort to get the thread back on topic, I'll post the Instagram video of Miller -> Damuni -> Lee that you referenced earlier. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf-ZWDrjarc

Hmmmm, never saw Damuni before this instagram posting. But from the short clip she has a deceiving set and good hands...made me feel some comfort...hope she works with a motivation to take over setting duties.
