I thought Hifo was at UVU? What happened? UC Riverside has a new coach...Hifo should help her with rebuild, but I think UVU has a much better program. Yeah, she was originally going to UVU. No idea what happened.

I would think the Club V group on this board would know. UVU had the Funk girl and the Miller girl that are okay setters. I thought Hifo would likely be battling out with Miller--but it is hard for a coach to give the reigns to a setter just for a year. Hope she is happy at UC Riverside--I was grateful for what she gave BYU.

Erin Livingston will make an appearance on BYU Sports Nation sometime in the next hour. IMO, BYU coaching staff does not get enough credit for Livingston's development. She may not be RJP (yet), but her development since first coming to BYU is impressive and very similar given her starting point.

Livingston still has three more years of eligibility.

Yep...always hard to compare players, but their improvement (remember Livingston redshirted and has COVID year)--has been comparable. Also, per my conversation a couple of weeks ago with a former player, she is one of the ones she identified as a "weightroom" freak (as was RJP).

Here is Erin Livingston's interview from BYUSN this morning.
Frankly, I don't think the interviewers did the greatest job with this one. Didn't ask about the team's strengths and weaknesses. Didn't ask about her time training with the US Collegiate National Team. Did ask multiple questions about her being married (this is a major pet peeve of mine with BYUSN).

Didn't ask what she personally tried to improve or work on in the off season Didn't ask if she is going to try to play six rotations this season I appreciate that BYU Sports Nation does volleyball interviews, but in general the interviews are pretty fluffy and this was worse than normal.

Yes, those would have been very good questions as well. Oh, and they were also asking about her opinions on Stranger Things. Wasted opportunity. Edit: The question about whether she's playing six rotations or not is an especially big one, as that's one of the biggest questions for the team in general.

Thanks, pelagius , for sharing that article. What a pleasure to read! It sure beats the articles usually written by our local writers. They are frequently so short and shallow, like the BYUtv interviews, that I often wonder why they even bother.

Nice article about Nataly Moravec:
That was a very nice article. I recommend reading the whole thing, but I thought it was particularly interesting that it sounds like Moravec largely recruited herself. She contacted Heather Olmstead in January of 2020 and put together her own highlight reels. It's also interesting that she apparently has never lifted weights before and got to where she is by focusing on technique and fundamentals. Her coach since she was five years old is a former pro volleyball player from China who has known Moravec's mother since they were teenagers in Tianjin. She also has athletic parents, as her dad is a 6-8 former basketball player, and her mom is a 5-9 former volleyball player (with a great nickname of "slingshot") that helped BYU Hawaii win two NAIA national titles. Her grandmother was also a pro volleyball player for Czechoslovakia. Overall, Moravec sounds like a very intriguing player, and it will be interesting to see how she develops at BYU.

An Air Force friend retweeted this into my timeline and I thought BYU fans may find this interesting. Apparently this pilot is a self-proclaimed BYU superfan, and wears BYU colors on his flight helmet. Someone got a good shot of him as he flew past.
