Im pretty sure I have a different viewpoint than most on this... but I think USA Fast is actually probably the best thing that could happen for this quad. We don't have the OOS hitter that everyone else does right now. But no other country (bar Japan) passes as well as we do. I would be shocked at a group stage exit. I will also be shocked if USA leaves pool play. When has that ever happened? 04? It has never happened since the tournament has been in its current format. So what you are saying is that USA is the solid 3rd ranked team in the pool? China/Italy take the pool while Russia/Turkey fight for 4th? Is that how we all think is going to go down?

Of course anything can happen once they start playing...

What really worries me is that the USA is going up against 4 other teams that play a very different style of volleyball. Now, that could play right into our laps and we finish top of the pool again and our medal chances greatly increase that way. However, it is a very real possibility that the USA crashes out in pool play or, crosses Serbia/Brazil in the Quarterfinals. Those scenarios are less than ideal but, maybe the team need to get their noses bloodied before they kick it into higher gear. I just know that the team hasn't looked dominant this quad at all. I worry that Karch's system is just not going to do the team any favors with where the game as a whole is headed. More and more teams just have huge OOS garbage disposal hitters who can score no matter the set. By not having anyone on the team that can fill that role, the team had better be in system at all times. I'm cautiously optimistic but there is no reason why a team that is as stacked as the USA should struggle to be in the mix with the top teams and consistently playing for gold medals like in past quads. I just feel like Karch waiting too late to introduce younger talent earlier in this quad might come back to haunt the team. Brazil and USA are the best passing teams. Japan, not so much with the departure of Saori and Shinnabe but remains to be fantastic diggers.

But we can't make like 5 service errors per set like we were last Olympics because siding out is not so easy sometimes. I do think USA Fast is good for this quad especially since Carlini and Poulter both run it better than Lloyd and Hancock did.

So they did follow the original pool play plan from the original schedule. USA's toughest week is week 5 (Poland, Russia and China) I low key love that USA vs. China is the final match for both teams.

That would do wonders for this tournament IMO, but will China send their best players? We shall have to wait and see. I think Brazil, Netherlands, Turkey and maybe Italy will be in the mix pending their roster makeup after the third week 6 athlete substitution.

Probably, the reports have said that the NT members are dying from lack of international competitions. I'm sure they'll be excited to play although the emphasis is definitely on the Olympics.

I have heard that the bubble requirements are going to be very stringent and that athletes are not just bubbled but literally in lockdown for the entire tournament. Hotels and arenas and that is it. Any intel from anyone? I would assume some countries athletes will be vaccinated, others not, are the ones vaccinated offered more flexibility or is everyone in the same boat? Curious as to how the Italians will manage this.

I feel like there are various forms of bubbles - “Bubble boy” just you all alone in a bubble. “Family Bubble”. You and your family or teammates- can interact all you want but no “merging of bubbles”. Or “the Dome bubble”- no one in or out of the area, but interaction permitted within the bubble. Many interpretation available to the term “Bubble” these days.

I’m not sure about how they’re going to work with the families... but there’s no interaction between teams (like USA and Italy for example) outside of the courts, I remember reading that
