After this abysmal spring season- I thought the future may be a little brighter.
For the fall of 2021, - it looks like Jamye Cox will be back. She was not listed on their Senior Night tweet - Junior setter Elena Shklyar will not be returning after this season. She stated that she will transfer but has not said where. - Shklyar’a transfer is not super surprising with Cullen and the arrival next year of Julia Bishop, another highly-touted setter. I don’t know what the setting situation will look like next season. Cathy George loves a 6-2 so maybe Cullen and Bishop will both set.

You could build a 6-2 with pins that have already had plenty of playing experience, even though some are graduating.
Maybe:
OH - Max-Brown, Kabengele
RS - Franklin, Johnson
Johnson hasn't seen as much time during the spring, though.

I hope one of those setters transfer... Too good of talent to run half an offense that doesn't warrant a 6-2

After this first weekend- a few take aways and questions. Granted I didn’t watch any of the matches.
1) Cullen and Bishop equally split setting duties. Cullen got the start for every match but Bishop was subbed in. When things got tight in the Wright State match, Bishop seemed to be the go-to setter. Did anyone watch the matches? Was Cullen underperforming so Bishop had to step in?
2) Max-Brown seemed to have a good weekend. Franklin was so-so. I hope Franklin can re-establish herself as the leader of the OHs.
3) Lauryn Gibbs was who I thought would be libero, but she was not listed on the LiveStats and didn’t play at all this weekend. She played at the Green and White scrimmage. Hope it’s not an injury, MSU is so thin at DS. Really missing Hannah Grant right about now.

So if you have some anti-vax or unvaccinated athletes on your roster, at what point can you pull their schollies and/or kick them off the team?

Hmm, why are they even able to be there then?

Hmm, why are they even able to be there then? One of the possibilities that crossed my mind is maybe the unvaxed athletes showed up to practice last month, recieved their first shot after they realized the University was serious about their policy but are not past the fully vaccinated mark quite yet. So a close contact or someone on the team tests positive and they need to sit out. I can't imagine the coaching staff or administration would allow unvaccinated athletes on the roster at this point.

Anyone know what’s going on with Max-Brown? She didn’t play last weekend and is not playing tonight against Rutgers. It’s too bad as she has been very consistent for MSU. Would love to have seen what this team could have done if Poljan was also back in the lineup. Defense would still be lacking, but no doubt would be an improvement on this lackluster season.
