Whoever created the schedule for this year should be fired. Why is the sole team from the west coast left in the tournament slated to play at 9am pacific on a day when only 4 matches are being played?

It's in their rules that they will make an accommodation if it is convenient/possible, but they are allowed not to.Anyway, there was nothing preventing them from moving the other match, was there? No, this is what the rule (9.1) says: Institutional Policy. If a participating institution has a written policy against competition on a particular day for religious reasons, it shall inform the NCAA national office on or before September 1 of each academic year in order for it or one of its student-athletes to be excused from competing on that day. The championship schedule shall be adjusted to accommodate that institution. (emphasis mine); (Adopted: 4/22/98, Revised: 8/11/98, 10/28/99, 5/2/13) At any rate, no, I don't think there was anything stopping them from moving one or more of the other matches to Saturday. If they had done that, then maybe we wouldn't be looking at the a match between Kentucky and Western Kentucky that will start after 10:30 PM ET. The winner of Florida/Ohio State should take issue with it. It’s beyond unfair to have the top overall seed have a full days rest while their opponent plays the next day for no other reason than religion. It’s stupid, period.

No issue with BYU requesting the match move to Saturday. They should have moved the OSU-Florida match either earlier or onto Saturday itself.

Dan Fisher seems like such a jerk on the sidelines, but you can tell he’d be really fun to play for. If they go to the Final Four, I expect a few more interviews in his future. He's a fine coach, great motivator and a good recruiter. Sorry Pitt fans, but whenever Russ Rose retires, I sincerely hope Penn State poaches Fisher for the job.

Love that 3/8 teams are playing for their first final four with a chance of seeing 2 brand new participants (but we get at least one - winner of UK vs Purdue)!! So great for the sport, and I do really enjoy watching Purdue, Kentucky, and Pitt! Let’s go parity!!

Um, most years they play all the regions on the same days. And with the risk of Covid spread, there’s added incentive to compress the timeline.

Why is the sole team from the west coast left in the tournament slated to play at 9am pacific on a day when only 4 matches are being played? This was a function of the starting times of the Sunday matches. Now if they had moved the Florida/Ohio State game to Saturday, then Wisconsin could/should have been the early game today. Moving the Florida/Ohio State game to Saturday could have impacted ESPN programing and taken away a game on ESPN2. The real question is how much should the schedules be influenced by ESPN? Obviously ESPN has a lot of impact, and in the big picture - I think it is really good to have ESPN around to broadcast the games.

BTW, I was sadly crushed by Oregon (#2 PAC) losing to Purdue (#5 B1G). I still don't think the "eye test" should have been used to seed so many B1G teams so high in the tournament, but the play from the PAC teams didn't back me up on this. (Pitt did, however.) If Pitt's win over Minnesota backs up your "eye test" critique, what does Pitt's win over Utah say?

Since the second round matches concluded on Thursday night, would have been great had they scheduled the regional semi-finals for Saturday, and then the regional finals on Monday.
