Like others, I think this is a great idea and kudos on already having so great an impact. Do you anticipate eventually making talent judgments regarding the participating players. For example, I look at the Cancun list and see certain players who I don't believe can compete at a high level. Without naming any players, I wonder whether who you fund will depend in part on evaluations of their potential or do you plan to stick mostly to points etc. I believe this was answered in a different thread: "We chose the athletes based on skill and character since they will be representing corporations and foundations along with donors." You can definitely go down the list and figure out which players with higher points didn't make the cut.

yes, but they will only fund 4 per gender 4 teams? Or 4 athletes per gender? The top 3 teams on the men’s side are Cribb, Dalcena and T2, so I’m a little lost to why T2 would not receive any funding. On the women’s side, I understand if Day/Hughes, and Reeves/Cannon didn’t receive funding, but why would Slaes not get any funding? They’re one of the top 4 teams. 4 teams per gender

I was just curious if the funding had changed from 2020. Covid changed a lot of stuff and I thought it would be sad if the they pulled the rug out from under the athlete’s.
It’s cool to do a fundraiser for the second tear Olympic hopefuls out there. I love people going after there dreams and getting community support. Keep up the hustle man.

Awesome!! So cool to see. Would have loved for it to have been longer, but it was still quite thorough, and just so exciting to actually see what we've been reading about. A plethora of kudos, southbay11 !! And the added bonus of seeing a Jim Hill piece for the first time in years!! By far the best L.A. sportscaster of my youth in the Val. Couldn't help but still think a bit, though, that something seems a little bit off with Slaes as was discussed here after Cancun. Probably should take an oath to not discuss until after the Olympics, but when they were walking and talking it just felt a bit subdued and should not have.

You can definitely go down the list and figure out which players with higher points didn't make the cut. Thank you for sharing! Moving forward; we obviously hope to expand to tiers of players and it will be based on the criteria mentioned and financial need. USAV does take care of its elite players. Nobody is getting rich and extra money is always needed to pay bills even at the top but, we will do what we can since every penny that comes in; goes directly to the players. Our hope is to begin to work with “teams” in that first tier for the 2024 quad. The second tier (which we hope to expand to) will also be teams that will be evaluated and helped for a season trying to get to that top level tier. They will be reevaluated after each “season”. Then, a third tier of talented individuals in need of coaching, etc to help them get to that next level of competition. That’s the hope. And since they will be representing corporations, products and potentially funds; work ethic, character, etc will all still be a part of the formula as well as talent, potential and need. Weve started to meet with other players/teams to interview them so-to/speak so if we can succeed and expand, we have a game plan in place. Personally, I love the players that have shown initiative and sacrifice (all-in mentality) and have taken huge risks to achieve their dreams and the players working multiple jobs to support families and themselves to make it possible. That shows us a lot. That makes me want to work for them to help them achieve. The ones not looking for a handout working tirelessly to achieve and not just waiting for something to happen but trying to make it happen. Our current players reach 11 million people a month just on social media. Hopefully, corporations can take advantage of that potential customer base. We are also reaching out to funds and even contacting owners of major sports franchises asking for their involvement. If all goes well and we can build and grow for 2024; we’d like to then expand to other sports. Thank you for you help and support. We’ve been successful on a small sample basis and just hope we can grow to help the players and help change the culture of the sport for the better over the long haul.

Judging by the fun these two were having in a hotel room lip sync video they put on social media recently, it appears all is well in the land of Slaes. Couple that with back to back wins and I can’t imagine there’s anything brewing here but what do I know?

nice feature. good on you for arranging that. Agree with the comments re: Jim Hill. He's always been a class act. He doesn't seem to age at all. you know what they say, but I can't say it cuz I just don't want to get canceled.

Yeah, pleasantly surprised to see that Jim Hill is still doing it.
