Nope. I think Natalia needs to be on the floor. Also, Gattaz and Adenizia are a better MB duo. The rest probably are. Macris is a maybe. I like Roberta, especially her connection with Tandara. I think Dani Lins is around too. We haven't seen her play in forever. Thaisa retiring was a shock.

Brazil doesn't have the talent in the middle or from the setting position that it's had in the past. Big drop off for them right now. I agree, I think Gabi, Tandara, and Natalia/Fe Garay can get them to the semis at Tokyo (with the right matchups in the QF), but I don't think those three are enough to get them past Italy or China.

Canada looks pretty solid overall.... all teams have looked rusty so far. Italy and Serbia are going to wish they'd had sent their A team to the VNL I think, come Olympics. This tune up is needed in the lead up to the games, imho.

I think Ze Roberto is doing some player shuffling to see where everyone is at right now and what combination of players work the best together.

Serbia had 16 kill blocks on Turkey today in that 5 set loss. Woof.
Edit: Math fail. They got 18, not 16.

They need their middles to be effective as well to get past those two. Thaisa would've been their consistent starting middle, but right now I'm not sure who that is currently.

Really sucks Canada didn’t qualify for Tokyo. They could have made some noise.

I thought Dani Lins still looked pretty good this past couple seasons with Sesi Bauru; would be interested in seeing her get some time here. My problem with Brazil is I really like all of Roberta, Macris, and Dani Lins, but I don’t *love* any of them.

LOL Poland just won 16-14. They put a blocking sub in, but had their setter (Nowicka) playing on the left side. She even had to take a lefty swing out of system from there. Weird!

I see no reason why Canada can't emerge into a more competitive program internationally. Most of their players come up through high-level D1 programs same as the Americans. The US juniors scene is far more developed and obviously the NCAA > than the Canadian equivalent, but as I said the top Canadian players have generally come to the NCAA anyway. Their coaching history has been super sus, but I hope with the talent they have now they can make a move and find consistency particularly in Norceca.
