Do you mean national or natural position? I'm confused either way. her natural position is OH not OPP I typoed my bad. I meant natural I don't know if that's true either. Thompson came into Cincinnati and played OPP her 1st season and was spectacular as a freshman. She played OPP in her time with Team USA. When she got back from a very successful 2019 summer with Team USA she was put at OPP again at Cincinnati to start the season. Unfortunately, due to limitations of Cincinnati's personnel, their system just couldn't work with her at OPP, they had weak setting and no other OH options, so it was best to just chuck her as many balls as possible, easier to do on the left rather than right. That was their best chance to win. Doesn't make it her 'natural' position.

^I don't necessarily disagree with any of this but... Her not unseating Murphy had more to do with Murphy than anything else. Murphy's leash was... disturbingly long. I think Lowe should have unseat Murphy. Fawcett should have unseat Murphy. Hell, Kayla Banwarth should have unseat Murphy. But Murphy could hit .700 in system against Puerto Rico!!! How we left the 2014 WCH with the lesson "Murphy was our best hitter over the course of the tournament" is just a colossal failure of evaluation.

What are international volleyball fans talking about team USA? c.tieba.baidu.com/p/73425861191. Looks like the top choice for OPP is still Drews/Lowe, Thompson is unlikely to go to Olympics 2. Hancock is jump serving again, Karch maybe paid attention to Italian League 3. Courtney is still the lib, so she will compete with Wang for a Tokyo spot. Replies: Thompson didn't sign with any team yet (reply: someone will take her) Thompson played well with Vitra at the beginning, and then.... (replies: 1. yes, beginning of the season was quite good. 2. you must have a misunderstanding of the word "good") Why are they playing vb in a basketball court Won't they choke (referring to playing ball with masks on) Karch forcing Hancock to change her topspin serve to jump float is f****** r*******. It's so difficult to find a good jump-server and you throw your own away. Courtney already messed up a key match, Wang should be the first choice for lib compared to her.
(I am way too bored. Please let May 25 come already.)
Lol I love how you kept repeating Wang. We'll gladly take her from you guys. You can take Courtney instead. (I know u meant Wong-Orantes lol)

I also think Lowe is in the same boat as Adams, SWP, MKR, Hancock, Tapp. On the outside looking in. You can tell by how the coaching staff see them as they were sent to the PanAms instead of the VNL and were not part of the Olympic Qualifiers. Tapp and Lowe were in WCup because Rettke/Akinradewo and Thompson were not available.

Keep repeating lowe should not be in gym or no good for that 2nd spot in spite of her experience.Who is the right fit anyway? Give us a reason why the hell jt&plummer are better option than lowe? Jt isn't even practicing right now! LOL She had disappointing performance due to whatever excuses it was. The point is she isn't ready for olympic and lowe took advantage practicing in gym while jt was cheering Boskovic.
We are not even sure how drews will perform this time because as we all know she played in japan which is lower and less competitive than Europe. She ain't tier 2 or even tier 3 opp and you want a fresh grad, less experience, haven't been playing opp for whole season, still injured and probably not in gym right now as substitution?. Care explain why jt/plummer are better option? Not even cuttino huh?

They're literally going off for no reason at all. lmao.
Facts hurt. 😩
Fact: Lowe isn't going to Tokyo.
Fact: Drews and Thompson are.

Lowe isn’t going to Tokyo, so, in that sense, no, she doesn’t belong in the gym for any longer than necessary. She does not bring significant experience, despite what some posters here think. She rode a high in 2015 after graduating to a Rio roster spot to be the double-sub OPP. She had a great match off the bench in the semis, but was never consistent enough as a server, defender, or blocker (especially) to unseat Murphy. Even since returning to the team after her brief break, the staff has focused on providing match opportunities to Drews and Thompson, not Lowe. Again, with such little time until Paris, these roster decisions should both give the team the best chance at winning gold and help shepherd in the next generation. Lowe helps accomplish neither of those goals. Why is this so hard for some to comprehend? This is literally what makes most sense.

JT is still injured/recuperating and without the VNL evaluation the coaching staff will definitely have second thoughts.
Lowe has high possibility as she was perfecting the speed Karch wants all these months.
Drews is locked. She has been playing almost the same tempo in Japan even though her blockers smaller than the Europeans.

15 players will be training for the Olympics: S: Malinov, Orro, G.Gennari. OPP: Egonu, Sorokaite(also OH). OH: C.Bosetti, Gennari, Sylla, Pietrini. MB: Danesi, Chirichella, Folie, Fahr. L: De Gennaro, Parrocchiale. If you exclude G.Gennari, Parrocchiale and one of the middles, here are the 12 players for the Olympics. There will be competition only for the 4 middles, as Chirichella is not even the team's captain anymore, that role was given to Sylla. Surprise... I'm not sure if that is the right move. Now I can understand the rationale. Mazzanti might want to keep his team's strategy a secret for Tokyo. But other teams like Russia have tried that approach leading up to Rio and the result didn't worked out so well for them. There is only so much you could do with training in the gym after all, you need actual match experience to identify and correct issues. Waiting until the Tokyo Olympics might be too late to fix them. Or is Mazzanti so confident he thinks those issues won't apply to Italy?

I think Lowe should have unseat Murphy. Fawcett should have unseat Murphy. Hell, Kayla Banwarth should have unseat Murphy. Murphy was better, day in/out than Lowe. She did not have a good Olympic Games but she got there based on the tournaments and stats beforehand. Same thing for Lowe. The problem is some of you only tuned in for the Olympics and seem to only remember the semi finals. Lowe was more mess than she was good. As Ive always said, theyre two players … Lo Lowe and High Lowe. Y’all only remember the High Lowe. The girl can destroy balls in system but the rest of her game is pretty mediocre and downright bad. If anything, y’all should be more mad that Fawcett wasn’t the second opposite rather than Lowe. She had a much more complete game and has some consistency. And yes, Drews is better defensively than Murphy and Lowe, IMO. Not great but a step up.
