Some members of the Italian NT got their first doses of the vaccine yesterday. They'll be getting their second shot while playing VNL, yikes.

Which picks are you bothered about? I'm not bothered by it. It's a general comment on our rosters. The people we knew that would be on the team made it. Maybe, it's because I know Team USA pipeline from the bottom to the top. I understand that Karch is trying to give them experience before the olympics but he could've put in some younger ones for some fun/spark. That's not Karch. I was hoping he would make an unpredictable roster pick. He put A team. Italy and Serbia somehow thinks it's better to not put them at risk before the olympics and sending their B teams instead. I...disagree. Young people for fun/spark is not the move during an Olympic year. During 2017-18-19 could and should the argument be made for more youth involvement? Perhaps. But not in the only tournament before the Olympics and especially since it’s the first international competition in like a year and a half.

With Italy and Serbia not sending their best teams I'd say that there's at most the following matches that are relevant considering the olympics: Brazil DR Japan Korea China Russia Turkey
So there's like 7 matches of use when evaluating players for the olympics

When did Veljković have her baby? February and she's not on Serbia's roster for VNL. It's crazy to think her first match since 2019 and having her baby will be at the Olympics assuming Terzic brings her which I think he will.

I just got my second shot on Tuesday and I felt like death warmed up until today and even now I still feel a bit fatigued. Sorry if I said anything more offensive than usual.

I can see how you got those two mixed up with their names being similar, but their style of play are different which made it easier for me to remember who's who. Jovana Stevanovic (likes to run the slide) Stefana Veljkovic (big jumper and attacks in front of the setter) Serbias middles are mediocre outside Rasic who is getting old fast. I mean Serbia won the 2019 European Championships with Popovic and Veljkovic. I'd be surprised if Popovic and Rasic aren't the starters. When the connection with Malinov was there Popovic was deadly with Scandicci. But I don't anticipate Serbia's passing being good enough for them to be a heavy feature even with Maja setting.

Pro tip: take a Vitamin D pill/get some sunlight after. It really makes a difference.

11 more days ‘til 1st game for USA. Who are your starter predictions? OH: Larson, Plummer OPP: Drews SET: Carlini MB: Akinradewo, Ogbogu LIB: JWO Plummer plays alongside the best two passers... which means more Courtney over JWO, imo. Courtney is an incredible passer, terrible defender. JWO is more balanced. I also would take Courtney simply for her passing. Not hating on JWO, but I'm always surprised by her inconsistency as a passer after her stellar career at Nebraska.

Unless Karch plans to start Krob then she may as well convert to Libero and free up a spot for another pin.

The more I examine Serbia the more I realize they're not much of a threat as they were back in 2019. Obviously if healthy they're a top contender, but this postponement really hurt them the most out of all the teams.
