I think negating the relegation system this year is going to be HUGE for Canada. I selfishly am glad that a NORCECA team is reaping that benefit. I would also be fine with a CSV team (Argentina/Colombia). Europe is already a powerhouse and makes up HALF of the teams in the tournament.
I've already spoken about reforming the relegation/core team process before across many threads.
I feel that the FIVB should go one step further and demote the lowest core team to a challenger team IN ADDITION TO relegating the lowest challenger team. THEN, promote the highest ranked challenger team to a core team for the following edition. Teams might take the VNL more seriously this way.
Also, CAVB (Africa) needs to be represented in the VNL. How else are they going to get a chance to make any splashes on the world stage if we simply save them for cannon fodder during all of the major tournaments?
Also, the core teams need to be reassessed at the beginning of each quad. I know this will never happen but it would be great if each confederation got a quota during the start of each quad. Then, you let the relegations play out through the quad and the top teams will be present in the final edition before the Olympics.
They should just hire me to restructure all of these tournaments. Just sayin' 😉

I dont mind paying. I see it as a way to help grow the sport. And also eventually line Annie Drews' pockets since it’s gonna go to them anyways. Lmao *FTFY Me knowing my $7.10 purchase will help in paying off her Tesla >>>

Oof. The men's rosters just posted and I want to invite you all to enjoy what is going to be a slug fest of a tournament. Most of the big names in the men's game are there, except for Italy, who is sending an inexperienced team. It seems the Italian Federation wants to keep the Olympic rosters on both sides away from this tournament. I still think that is a bad look when you host a tournament.
Team USA is going to have to make some adjustments since one of our star OH's, Aaron Russell, is likely out all season with a hip injury. That's a pretty big loss. So the team will likely be trying all sorts of different pin trios in an attempt to find the right one. Interestingly enough, the only position that is a lock is Erik Shoji at libero. It's funny that that definitely isn't the case with the women's team.
Anyways, I started a thread over on the men's side (though not nearly as flashy/hip as @avid did for this one 😉) so I invite you all over there during the weekends to help support our boys as they attempt to make the finals in what promises to be a bloodbath of a race for the finals.

has anyone signed up for VolleyballWorld TV yet? It won't let me sign up. I just get a never ending loading screen Not sure if you solved this already, but I had to put my billing info in my account before I tried to pay for the subscription. I thought it would prompt me after I clicked on the sign up link, but I just got that never ending losing screen.

I had a UK address on my account from the last time I used it (with a VPN cause it wasn't available here in 2019)

Whatever happened to Ma’a? He played the past couple seasons in France and I believe is going to Poland next year.
