We can't call it fake news unless we have confirmation already where she is going next season. She was able to play 2 club teams this season with huge $$$ then i don't see any reason why she shouldn't accept the offer in japan. Maybe denso or hisamitsu offer BIG $$. They don't need another receiver but she is definitely better than most of the Japanese so i don't think it's a problem.

Any news on Thompson? Has her stock fallen that far already? Her instagram seems somber to me lately. I only follow volleyball (teams and players) on my Insta so she pops up from time to time.

Im not sure where she'll fit in... Italy is pretty much full (minus the promoted teams/the teams in limbo)
Turkey is meh... I wouldn't hate it if she were to try Poland or Germany, get her mojo back

Not a whole lot of major shuffling going on here or in Italy this season. Most of that is due to players signing multi year contracts but I also wonder if the process of playing through COVID this past season really bonded some of these teams like THY who over performed. I can see why they would want to maintain their roster. I also don't think that winning the CL is the goal either. Just playing in it will be a big deal. What they need to do is maintain their position in the league so that they can CONTINUE to participate in CL. So far, not too many domestic teams are looking stronger than the previous season IMO. I think THY's roster is fine TBH. Plus, ya'll sleepin' on Van Ryk. Carlini will be the best setter she has hit off of and will probably thrive in a faster tempo compared to the sky balls Erbar liked. I think they maybe sign one more OH or a foreign MB but otherwise they will be fine. I don't see them getting too far in CL but I think they will probably reach the quarterfinals which would be awesome.

Or, they could continue to get better with Carlini at the helm plus a whole extra year to gel as a team. Ebrar wasn't the only thing that contributed to their success. Plus, like i said, we don't know how Van Ryk will do. She is young and was lights out for Rzeszow last season in Poland. Many of the mid/lower teams in Turkey are on par with most of the Polish teams IMO. |
