That is even less informative since it specifically mentions this season. I get the feeling Sheff has been convincing them to feel proud of the season. and to communicate that. But the word "forever"... [EDIT: That's an obtuse reference]

Dont see Retke as MB for USA?? At the moment!? I'm not convinced how she would do offensively, need more then a slide.More to the job then being a big body. I have questions about her speed, I mean she did kind of vanish 2 years in a row. Like I said hopefully some work in the pros will prove me wrong. LOL. She vanished. Ok. FYI, in her very first international competition, she was 15th on the team in hitting percentage. Better than Washington. Better than Ogbogu. She was the fifth best blocker. Don't know how convinced you need to be, but I'm sure it was enough for others to invest in her national team future. Oh, and by the way those stats were listed in order of sheer numbers, not percentage based on set. www.volleyball.world/en/vnl/2019/women/teams/usa-usa/facts_and_figures

I, too, think that Robinson's future is in the middle. Her athleticism and arm swing are tailor-made for the middle. That she is this good on the right helped the badgers tremendously, but through my eyes, she still needed to be more or less in system to be as effective as she was. Too much of this speculation is hampered by not knowing who is returning and who isn't. Is Carlini's Turkish team in the market for a middle? That could be a lot of fun... This. The issue is not with Robinson's ability to be efficient on the right, it's that she is not a terminal out of system attacker over there. Against Florida and Texas, she was set only 9 out of system balls, and the only kill she got was from a net fault. Most were dug in system.

I mean, if our outsides were more effective OOS, we wouldn't be picking apart a player who hit around 450. We could actually spread OOS balls around.

She hit .475.. which is way better than 15th, which seems to be only behind Chi.

A dumb comment generally, but Dana didn't have a great hitting percentage in either of those matches. It ignores pretty strong performances against Florida this year and Baylor last year.

It isn't picking her apart to say she's a phenomenal middle, so she is extremely efficient in-system and not good as an out of system pin hitter. But you're right, Texas is much more well-suited to put a middle on the right because they can never set her out of system balls and be just fine. As a team, your margin of error just gets so small and your options limited when you have an OPP that isn't an out of system attacker. Madi Skinner's 4 out of system kills against Texas were more than Robinson (1), Phillips (1), and Drechsel (1) had in the Final Four combined. It makes a difference.

I have a hard time making sense of that ranking for best attacker from the VNL squad, but she was the 8th best scorer despite playing fewer sets than Ogbagu and Washington. She held her own. As for foot speed, for someone her height she quite quick, but more importantly, she reads the opposite setter well. She's improved a great deal in that respect since her freshman year. And the slide has been only part of her arsenal this year.

Dana's advantage is there is no middle like her... in the NT or really, in a lot of the leagues through the world (with a few exceptions) All of the tall players usually get sent to the opposite cause they aren't quick enough. Dana did well in the VNL.. and that's with limited prep/experience. Only up from here!

She was good enough to be with the USA "A" squad at the IOQT post her sophomore season, even if there were some injuries that factored into that. She'll be fine.

I was searching for Orzoł video and I can’t find anything recent (from 2021), but I did stumble on her club’s Facebook page and website, and it looks like they’re one of the top clubs in Poland right now. She’s been MVP in some recent matches.

Here's video of Orzoł from last summer. She's #22 in white, playing on the left. Her team gets clobbered, but she looks good.
