Im looking forward to this match up. After the Huskers got knocked out, this was the match up I wanted and predicted lol. There’s a lot of good outside play from both teams. But both teams have one weakness/player who won’t make a big impact on offense (unless the game plan is to get them involved) in Goetzinger and Phillips. After watching Kentucky yesterday, they’ll have to pass better. Big Skinner was having a lot of troubles OOS. Texas will certainly have the advantage for OOS play, but it will be limited if the bigger block gets put on Fields. Her hitting style and arm swing are great in system (against PSU and Nebraska) but last night we saw what can happen when she’s OOS against a bigger block that she can’t go over

I think you can respect a team and still say they’re gonna get their ass beat and their setter is over rated. OH NO YOU DIDN’T! LMAO... you trying to give @madden54 and donut an aneurism? For the record Lilley is not over-rated she is ELITE IMHO and the reason Kentucky is in the position they are in. Elite setters make their hitters better and without Lilley those hitters become good solid hitters and not dangerous hitters that make AA teams. I think it's pretty clear I'm not affected by homers who don't know what they're talking about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

I don’t need to defend Madison Lilley anymore than I have. 4 time All American and National Player of the Year. If some idiot homer thinks she’s overrated so be it. I don’t care anymore. I’m just excited to watch this team compete in a national championship match. As a Texas fan I was just stating my opinion on Lilley as a setter, and making sure you know most knowledgeable fans, regardless of who they root for know she is the real deal. Weren't you an Aggie fan? Agree about Lilley. |

Would love to see Kentucky win, however, I don’t think they have enough firepower to beat Texas. If Avery Skinner has a big match, I think this will be competitive. Meanwhile, Elliott has finally found the winning formula - employ 3 very good DSs in the backrow so their very athletic players can do their thing. I mean…. A libero and 1-2 DSs is most coaches winning formula? |

Was it Molly that had that last touch on match point? I need to go back and look at the tape, but I think she had that look of a kid that just broke the neighbors window.
Gosh that was a long walk by the ref, like the green mile. Tough to know the outcome but have to wait for that call. I don’t know about you but I thought the ref kinda slow walked it - to drag it out. And the little Texas two step she did -well, that was just uncalled for IMHO.

Moonballs were what worked nine years ago. It’s not the Texas approach in 2021. Texas being tall is only one of at least10 things Kentucky needs to be concerned with. You do realize Florida is taller than Texas right? The Florida players actual height for the MBs and RS are an inch at best taller than Texas, but the quickness and hops of the Texas players are greater at all three positions. But your post does bring up a good point. If you saw both of the Kentucky vs Florida matches the first match which Florida won was a physical gritty 5 set match that had extended rallies with three of the sets not being that close, both teams played well but Florida did just enough to win 17-15 in 5th. Then the 2nd match Kentucky won in a sweep which the set scores were closer, but Florida's serve was not as effective and Kentucky passed much better and they were in system the majority of the time which Florida struggled to disrupt Kentucky hitters with blocking and the result was a 3 set win for Kentucky. I can see the NC match having a similar result depending on which team is more successful with their style of play. I also believe the MBs and RS for Texas with their quickness and athleticism gives them more of an advantage than Florida had in trying to disrupt Kentucky's rhythm on offense. |
