Gosh next years setting situation is gonna be so interesting… first topic on the Texas 2022 thread? That’s would be 3rd on my list. 1. Who will be the libero/DS? 2. Who will replace Butler? Molly, etc. 3. Who will be the primary setter? 6-2? 4. Who will play RS? Molly, Skylar, etc. 5. Will Parra play OH? 6 rotation? I’m assuming everyone not gone comes back because I have zero knowledge that tell me different.

She is the one to beat. Is it our last year in the big 12? Will we another coach to help out with development?

Although I could be persuaded to switch Kahahawai/Fields or Iosia/Halter. Parra comes in to serve for whoever the weakest server is.

I sure hope it’s molly in the middle with Skylar back on the right with Melanie playing 6 rotations. If one of the freshmen comes in really solid though I would love to see a 6-2. Thought we should’ve done it more this year. Pitt finally showing a top team can run one. Most teams can’t because frankly they don’t have the depth. Texas most certainly does. Edit: meant 2, 4, and 5

Really felt like he should've did it this last match after the 3rd set.... the girls didnt seem to have too much trouble adjusting to each setter's sets, so don't know why it wasn't ran more often Also feel like Jhenna's defense is too good to ignore as well, y'all think she can pass? (yes we all know she is a setter so she wouldn't have much experience with it, im not asking that)

As far as the 6-2 I do not think the problem is with the depth, but rather the setting and our lack of a second good defensive setter. I remember when we ran it early on in the year Cabello was in the mix and she just wasn't good defensively to run it efficiently. I think that Molly in the middle is maximizing her ability to score and fields on the right is just amazing. Although I would hope that Devin redshirts to develop her overall skills I don't think that the coaches will do that. I will say that I think that the TTU matches showed that Melanie can be a good piece playing 6 rotations.

Wonder if either of them could, although I’m not sure I really want to SEE the answer to either.

(yes we all know she is a setter so she wouldn't have much experience with it, im not asking that) Her defense is really good and has improved year to year, but I do not think she will have the ability to pass. She did an interview where they asked her about coming in her freshman year and the role the coaches had for her and they told her club coach that they saw her as a DS and should work on passing. I don't think that worked out which is why she only came in as a serving sub.

I would not have the same concerns. Saige is also just a better setter than Naomi as well.

Edit: meant 2, 4, and 5 I agree. I think it could be very valuable for Texas to have two 6 rotation OHs, not only is the bic always available but with less subs coming it allows for the team to get into a better groove and play off of their own momentum. I think it would make a big difference for Texas to have 4 core players on the court at all times

I think it would make a big difference for Texas to have 4 core players on the court at all times I agree that having 2 6 rotation OHs would be better especially for the passing. I remember times where in rotation 1 where we would stack everyone on the left side of the court 8 times out of 10 it would be going to fields because teams would serve her and her passing would pull Gabriel off the net. He subbed parra in to have some more ball control and every time that happened we got the ball to bri or Molly.
