I was hoping she would end up in Italy or Turkey.

I was hoping she would end up in Italy or Turkey. This is probably the best move for her based on the market. There weren’t any clubs who really needed a setter in those leagues/couldn’t afford an American. Germany’s probably the next best league after those two, plus this gives her a bit of a cushion to develop instead of getting thrown in the deep end.

I was hoping she would end up in Italy or Turkey. Relax. She will eventually. Germany is the best move for her first season. Good agent.

One of the big questions around the 6-2 is whether the fast offense we saw the last 4 years is Lilley-style volleyball or Kentucky-style volleyball. If Lilley leaving means Skinner goes back to the drawing board with his offense (and let's give him major credit for how creative he is and how he's able to adapt the team's style to the players; see: Tealer), then I think a 6-2 is slightly more likely. If he tries to maintain the speed (which I think is likely because of Stumler), then I don't see a 6-2 working. It would just be too hard to get consistent sets out of 2 different setters in that style. If he does do a 6-2, I'd like Grome-Rutherford. Rutherford hits in the front row, sets in the back row, and you save substitutions. Rutherford has the advantage in athletic ability over Grome. Grome will struggle to block good hitters, let alone elite level OH's. Rutherford will not. I suspect that Rutherford will play Opp and set in a 6-2 with Grome setting from the backrow. I had some video shared with me of a Kentucky camp held last week from a club coach at KIVA. She told me that a girl attended (or was invited to attend) that camp and that she was dominating at the setting position. Parents of the top court participants are raving over the girl but no one knows where she is from. They have never even seen her before. The UK staff even brought in Emma Grome to set on the other side of the net to see what that match up looked like. Word has it that from an athletic standpoint, the new arrival has as much athletic ability as Lilley. Of course, setting skills are not Madison-like yet but that the actual athletic ability may be above Madison .... which is hard to believe. Does anyone have info on who that setter was/is or what class she is in?

Kentucky 2021 is the topic, for those of you who forgot. Do you think Kentucky should run a 6-2 I suspect the answer lies in what Skinner thinks of Grome's ability to set in the front row. If he believes she can block well enough, then we will not see a 6-2.

Her highlights look solid, I assume she could be a PWO?

That has nothing to do with her ability + capacity to be a setter. I want the best setter setting.

Kentucky was actively recruiting a setter that just committed from the transfer portal.
So I would say they aren’t super confident in their setting going forward

Can you elaborate who it was and where they ended up?

Kentucky was actively recruiting a setter that just committed from the transfer portal. I know for a fact this isn't true. They are not recruiting anyone in the portal this off-season.
