Kentucky was actively recruiting a setter that just committed from the transfer portal. So I would say they aren’t super confident in their setting going forward Waiting for some proof..🤣🤣

We all know this misinterpretation begins with that first questionnaire that comes in the mail in middle or high school.

I’m not sure how the portal works, but this player when she entered the portal, did receive interest/contact from Kentucky. I didn’t press much, but it was a list of schools who contacted her.

Congratulations Kentucky fans! Brooke Bultema (2023 MB) verbally committed. She was a hot commodity. MSU, OSU, Illinois, Penn State, and Purdue all had attended club practice and had either offered or were prepared to offer. She made this decision QUICK.

Hoping we can add Swindle, Chicoine, and an OH like Helmers or Byrd to the class but that’s a tall task lol.

Random question but what is the current status of Kentucky/SEC funding of their women’s volleyball programs? Asking because as softball became more dominant in the NCAA that football money came in pretty significantly too many programs. Wondering if the same is expected for WVB?

Chicoine going to Penn State, Swindle likely Texas based on some recent social media stalking here, and Byrd already announced her top 5 (UK not being one of them).

Asking because as softball became more dominant in the NCAA that football money came in pretty significantly too many programs. Wondering if the same is expected for WVB? Just dropped into this thread and saw this comment. Another question now is whether Texas joining the SEC soon (hopefully in 22) will motivate more WVB programs in the SEC to kick it up a notch. The increase in the new TV contract will certainly make the dollars available if a school wants to attempt to upgrade its program. Just based on my casual observations when my granddaughter was playing club, I believe that women's basketball must still lead volleyball in interest among girls in the southeast, except maybe for Florida. My granddaughter played in the Atlanta qualifier a couple of times and I noticed the majority of teams were either from the Atlanta area or Florida. Didn't appear to be many teams from other areas in Georgia or the surrounding states other than Florida.
