Without Sabrina Smith as MB, and Ryan being pulled half the time this year, seems like the strong incoming MB has a good shot at starting. Savage will remain a back up, and Dodson will hopefully improve too.

Quick question since I’m a little new to watching UCLA due to one of my favorite B12 players transferring there. Does Sealy always run 2 setters? Has he ever ran a 5-1? (I was pleasantly surprised watching Kylie play at Minnesota.) And when is Devon expected to return?

He put Allison Jacobs in as an right side with setter Kate Lane and then put Iman Ndiaye in with setter Devon Chang. There were times throughout the season that it worked for them and then times it didn't. After Devon Chang's mid season injury, they ran a 5-1 for a little bit and then brought in setter Audrey Pak. Clearly he likes running a 6-2. But, the setter position for Sealy has always been a hit or miss. The only time the 6-2 has completely worked as a advantage for Sealy and the bruins was in 2016.

They'd started the year in a 6-2 (Chang and Lane) but went to the 5-1 after the loss to WSU. They beat WSU in what was probably their best performance of the year with Chang running a 5-1 and McCall at OH (she'd started the year at Opp with Jacobs on the left). Chang got hurt in the next match against UW. The Bruins still won the first match against UW but went back to a 6-2 the next match (and got swept) and didn't use the 5-1 again.

Still either way a lot of the time for some reason Sealy always at the end of the season goes back to running a 6-2.

If you watched UCLA's setters after Chang got hurt you know why they were in a 6-2 at the end of the season. The lack of a MB that attacked well behind the setter was the reason they started the season in a 6-2. I expect the Bruins to address both of those needs before fall.

I'm not sure about his entire tenure, but I checked the box scores of the tournament matches in 2011, and it looks like Lauren Van Orden was running a 5-1. Interestingly, she was a transfer as well. Of course, UCLA's history with transfer setters goes back at least as far as Holly McPeak in 1990.

Over the past several years, he always seems to have them run a 6-2 at the end of the year.

I'd expect to see the Bruins running a 5-1 this fall.

I hope to see UCLA be a top 10 team next year. I’ve always loved watching them play and with talks of getting a transfer setter and having a promising middle coming in, this team can definitely be top 10.

I personally could see Andrea Fuentes from Mizzouri transferring to UCLA. It will not be Fuentes. You know...there's this wonderful thing called sharing...would you like to share some information about this potential transfer?
