All of this being said, we shouldn't take away from Beavin. Outstanding as a freshman bro.

I'll sign the petition for Cianciulli for LOY. As will I!

Darty definitely deserved COY. The conference coaches only thought she had ONE player worthy of all conference and her team finished one match from sharing a conference championship with the reining national champions. Good job MSU!

Yes, I certainly don’t want this to be a knock on Beavin because I’m sure she’s a sweet kid and looks like passing stats were pretty darn good. Just think there’s more to it than a pass and have to look at full package. Again…I’m biased of course!

I know that Auburn struggled this Fall but is no one surprised that Rebekah Rath didn’t make the All-SEC Team? She led the conference in kills per set… she hit .161 in conference. not good enough for all-conference team. kills per set isn't a great stat.

There’s more to it than a pass! no offense to dman or cianculli, but that comment is very telling (and true) when it comes to liberos in the SEC. they're just straight up not that good. a lot of the starting libs in the sec might not even find the court in a DS role in the big10 or pac. a lot of them aren't great servers either. and because of that, i think it's appropriate none of them made the all-sec team. just my opinion. also.. think dre kuk is very close to cianculli and deserves a little shoutout. auburn lib was solid too.

You have a point. It's my theory that the reason Florida, SC and Tenn played their pin hitters all six rotations was due to lack of quality DS's. Still, I still think the best liberos in the conference should get more recognition. I'm not sure what the answer is. Maybe all-SEC by position? Do the coaches vote on All-SEC?

Do the coaches vote on All-SEC? definitely always an under-recognized position. go look at 1st team AA. or even 2nd team. I don't love all-sec by position. it's exactly why the nba stopped using positions for all-star voting and kept it to 2 guards, 3 forwards. but as you said.. i don't have a great answer. could go a little more international style... have a best receiver (passer) award, a best defender, AND a best libero. or SEC could have 1st and 2nd team like most conferences which would allow for more players to receive awards. SEC number of all-conference players might be lowest in P5 conferences. idk about SEC specifically bc i don't really know any sec coaches on that level, but i know in other conferences (probably most all of them), all-conference selection goes like this: 1) coaches nominate people from their own team to be on the ballot. anyone you nominate WILL be on the ballot. 2) coaches are then sent a ballot with all nominees and can submit their votes; not able to vote for your own players. 3) the specific parameters from there can vary. I know the big 10 is a point system where you list them from 1-15 or however many.

Why does the SEC only have 1st team? So many other conferences has a 1st & 2nd.

There's so much I don't agree with here but I'll be polite and say we'll agree to disagree! My fault for spouting off...guess it was just the emotions of what I perceived as a slight of her final season. I should know better as these superlative awards always goes to the conference champions. As wrong as this is it seems to be the "unwritten rule". My opinion is it was a two person race...McKissock and Cianciulli. Those who know me from even back in the PrepVB days know that me pimping my daughter is something I never do; I've alway let her play speak for itself. Guess I decided to go out with a bang!
