apart from the obvious favorite to win a would be cif tournament (loyola) are there any other programs that are surprising or could contend for a championship?

Mira Costa can certainly contend as well as Newport Harbor but Loyola is the presumptive favorite for sure at this time.

Is California holding state championships this year? Or are they just playing within their leagues?

In Hawai'i there is no state championships and not all leagues are even playing. Some boys have missed out on almost two seasons, half of their high school career :/

No state champs, no one in the SSC for men’s games, when i would see the COVID numbers it seemed like things were going relatively well numbers wise..

Whoever wins, as a high school dad, I am feeling STOKED that we get to see our kids play again. Hats off to CIFSS for placing a stake in the ground and saying playoffs are a GO.

Politics That’s unfortunate, California basically beat it’s Governor into submission to make the season happen

Position by position, these teams are very even. It honestly depends on chemistry and which team in on a roll on the day. DIllon Klein and Ben Coordt are both very good players and leaders, and I believe Costa might have slightly more depth, but it is almost insignificant, considering if Klein went down then Cooper Robinson or Owen Loncar could just fill in for him. These 2 are powerhouses this year that could beat basically any club team.

I completely agree though, no club team would stand a chance against either of these teams. Only exception maybe is MB Surf or Rockstar if they are playing well.
