I’d be shocked as all hell to see Texas snatch a highly regarded transfer setter imo. Gabriel really stepped up this season but like Cabello also looks pretty good too. Like come fall, I am very curious how things will go between the two of them. I honestly cannot think texas would take a transfer in any position... maybe a middle for the sakes of depth? But like they know they ain’t playing if they do. They’re really deep imo. If texas were to go into the transfer market at all, it would be after the fall. Logan, Brionne, and OBrien depart. Texas has already tried to get a setter since the season ended. If you'd be shocked to see them bring in a transfer you haven't been paying attention.

Imho Setting is the one area where Texas is arguably at the weakest position right now. If they don't get one, their still a contender, but having another one ready to go gives them options as well.

I do

What a sassy response lol. Not everyone has your insider info. Elliott's interest in Tuaniga wasn't a secret. I was well aware with Tuaniga. It helped her family connection with the team as well. But I believe Elliott isn't in the dire need to be in the market. I mean if someone comes on the radar, of course check it out, but idt it is anything to be freaking out about is my point. I think Gabriel did very well this season and on the other side, I really REALLY want to see Cabello succeed. I think her even be given the opportunity for court time was very telling because Jerritt could've ran a much similar situational sub with Shook and NEVER DID. He opted for a DS (HS setter, not even club) to do it. I want to see Cabello reach her potential and more. Ofc if Jerritt picked up this amazing top notch transfer, I wouldn't be mad by any means but I really enjoy all the young women on the roster currently.

I am also to hear people's input on Texas' setting currently. Is it the problem with location and tempo or just simply the fact she's barely 5'7ish and little block??

Shook did the exact same sub they did with Cabello in the fall when she was still here. Once Shook left in the spring then they started running Cabello on that front row sub? Tbh I saw the potential in Cabello when she came on the court but her setting just looked awkward. I will be very interested to see how she looks in the fall though.

I dont recall seeing shook ANYWHERE... She played very little iirc, just enough to get a highlight bc skylar doesn't need much lol

Well, the size is definitely an issue, but Gabriel was inconsistent. There were times when the tempo and location were awesome (particularly to Logan and Butler, which makes sense because she's set them the longest) but there were times where Gabriel just trap set the pins or set the middle low way too often in-system. Plus her OOS location was a little off sometimes too. She's improved every single season at Texas though, she was much better this season. And of course...the service errors (lol).

I posted that she was at the Rice match but others confirmed that the interest was mutual. I think SC was her top choice all along but Elliott wanted her.

She would be the front row sub for Gabriel. Once she left for Washington in the spring, Cabello stepped in.

Imo if she was consistent at delivering a great ball to all her hitters then I could overlook her blocking weakness. Unfortunately both problems persist, though she did show improvement this year
