I've seen a lot of people questioning passing and making shady comments about OH depth in Happy Valley after the transfer news. Here a my thoughts... 1. Rollins and Pritchard both had a heavy load to carry on their previous teams for a variety of reasons. Rollins is a solid passer imo regardless of the numbers and I think she will confirm that this year. Pritchard on the other hand will not have to carry the same responsibility and in turn will be more effective because she will be on a more well rounded team with better coaching. 2. Blossom, Bilinovic, Rollins, and AC will make solid back court for next years team. 3. Adding two terminal OHs will also improve the numbers and production of Jonni, Hord, and Gray. 4. This team will have weapons at every position on the court AND with the addition of a PV top 100 6'0+ setter in the recruiting class he will be able to sub for a taller blocking setter at times against teams like Texas. We will definitely block alot better with more height from pin to pin 5. I AM SUPER EXCITED TO SEE WHAT CAN HAPPEN NEXT YEAR 6. Also if you havent heard of Chloe Chicoine look her up Look at number 6

Now I want to play Pitt even more in the Fall! Why tho? She had a starting roll at psu, played in the best conference in the country... I mean obviously I don’t know what’s behind the scenes with this decision but I thought she would’ve wanted to transferred somewhere maybe more competitive in the ncaa tourney. Idk pitt just is not what I expected lol

Having stumbled into that Google Doc on the Fall 2021 schedule thread containing the pieced-together Penn State Big Ten schedule...
WTF, Big Ten? Only 1 match vs. Wisky and it's on the road?

Schedule is finally up. The preconference schedule tells me Russ doesn't feel confident with this team. Preconference teams (with some trivia):Saint John's Georgia Tech - Arielle Wilson is the assistant coach UCF Iowa State Oregon State LSU - PSU's Erika Williams' older sister, Alia, is a MB Oregon Stanford Robert Morris - Emily Londot's (tOSU) older sister, Alyson, plays OH (Londots are a VB family) West Virginia - Keaton Broughton spent first 2 seasons at WVU What is the potential RPI affect of this preconference slate trojansc or bluepenquin ? I think this is a pretty decent schedule. Opportunities to get, at the very worst, 2-3 quality wins. No reason to be disappointed, overall. Georgia Tech & UCF = excellent. I think both will end up with good record and as Top 25, Top 50 at worst teams. Beatable teams as well, which may be often overlooked in analyzing RPI 'value'. St. John's is a pretty good choice too RPI wise. Iowa State and Oregon State, I don't particularly like. Not expecting anything good to come out of there. LSU is a wildcard. They could be a T25 team or (yet again) miss the tournament. Oregon & Stanford are good choices as well. I'm actually not completely sold on how good Stanford will be, but, both of these teams will be more chances for significant wins nonetheless. I think most people think Stanford will be the better of the two... I don't know about that. Robert Morris & WVU are meh-questionable as well. Robert Morris recently moved from the NEC to the Horizon. In the NEC - they are a much more valuable team to schedule. The Horizon is much better and I don't expect them to put up a gaudy record like they did in 2019. Both of these teams could be sub-.500. I think Iowa State and Oregon State may be as well. Of course, being in the B1G and PAC means that you don't really need the better non-conference slates, unless you really believe you are a Top 4 seed worthy team. That said, this schedule does not rule out a Top 4 seed possiblity, IMO. It could easily be attainable, especially for a B1G team.

You’re complaining about only playing Wisconsin once? You might want to read the entire sentence.

Much obliged for this write-up.

She could have wanted to transfer because of academics, social life, etc.

That said, this schedule does not rule out a Top 4 seed possiblity, IMO. It could easily be attainable, especially for a B1G team. I kind of think this will be among the hardest years to predict/game one's RPI. 1) We still don't know all the seniors coming back - still transfers to happen. 2) 2020 season was unusual (obviously) - so 2020 to 2021 isn't as reliable and 2019 to 2021 is too far removed. 3) Way more talent this year with extended eligibility. It is going to very difficult to know who and how this helps teams. The top 25 in 2021 will be substantially better than the top 25 in 2019. General comments about PSU schedule: Iowa State should be okay. The bottom half of the Big 12 looks very weak to me, so they shouldn't have a bad record. Plus, there is no reason to think they will be a bad team anyway. I like both Stanford and Oregon - I think they both will do well. To me - the PAC this year looks like a very strong top half and not so strong bottom half. I think this will result in teams like Stanford having solid w/l% and high RPI. Penn State has never seemed to care about RPI in the past - I don't think they really care now.

Fair enough on 2018, but not sure the abortion of a 2020 schedule should really weigh in here.

Katie Clark who played at TCU & earned All-Big 12 honors is now going to be joining the Nittany Lions in the fall. Based on the clips I saw of her playing, I would say she is a great addition to the Penn State program.
