Even with the injuries Florida has plenty of talent. You have two experienced outsides with a NOFY level opposite. Good libero play, and even with Dixon out as a pin playing MB, you bring in a member of the Pan-Am U21 national team and previous starter 6’3 Essix to play at her natural position. (I think Martin was on that team as well). Their roster still easily has enough to make the tournament, which is actually impressive considering all the players gone from last years lineup now.

Victoria either has an awful match or a great match... such an inconsistent player, I don't know why Wise keeps her in when she's shown that she isn't consistent enough... at this point give Gravlee a chance to hit. Such a talented player does not jump on that roller coaster all on her own. But you probably already knew this. I do get frustrated with Sofia too but one must also realize that a set too low or to high or too far off or too close to the net can make a talented player look bad. There are times when Sofia and ACF seemingly hit a roll shot with little thump to the ball with less than great blocks setup. You scratch your head and think why did she not go for that one, but obviously the ball came in such a way to cause them pause on a big swing. There are a lot of things we can't see or feel from their perspective, but then we think we are the experts. Obviously, the coaching staff is not full of morons and they take many notes during the games and see them in practice. I personally try to reserve myself on my criticisms.

I appreciate the positivity. Unfortunately Dixon has been out against Miss State and tonight against TAMU while healing some sort of left hand injury. She did play with the cast during the Alabama game and did well. Essix has been hampered all season with a cast on her right hand, but I believe recently it's been downgraded to a brace. There are injuries all around the court that this team has been adjusting to seemingly every other game, but yes still enough talent to make the tournament.

We need a .500 conference record aka 5 more wins to guarantee NCAAs. Hoping we can pull off Ole Miss, South Carolina and Alabama, but I'd say nothing is guaranteed anymore. Then we're looking at Missouri, LSU and A&M being our next tier of matches by level of difficulty. Ideally we can pull off 1 or 2 there. We should brace ourselves for 5 likely losses to Kentucky 2x, Arkansas 2x and Tennessee. Ok, 4 more wins to guarantee NCAAs. I know just making the tournament isn't something this program generally brags about, but we have a Top 2 tournament streak on the line and have had to overcome more injury adversity than I can ever recall. Big win over TAMU. Lots of fight to win the next 3 after losing the first set close. Florida has 4 losses, but also beat 2 of the teams they lost to. Let's take care of business @ole Miss Wednesday and get ready for the showdown against likely SEC champion Arkansas next Sunday. Excited to see how this version of the team gets up for a big time match.

That was quite the 4th set thumping of A&M after close sets in the first 3.

I've been waiting to make this comparison in honor of how hard K Muff is working to step up in place of the injured All American leader of this team.
Stucky played 33 sets in the pre-con and Muff now also has exactly 33 sets in SEC play.
Stucky - 10.27 A/S, 13 aces, 30 kills hitting .482, 74 digs, 14 blocks Muff - 9.73 A/S, 8 aces, 20 kills hitting .333, 57 digs, 13 blocks
Muff is working hard to develop connections midseason without the benefit of an offseason of reps with our starters. Also considering she has never played at the D1 level and she's 3 inches shorter than Stucky, it's impressive she's been able to put up as good of numbers she has.

Anyone know when Dixon will be returning? Not sure... but if Essix and Okammor can play like they did against TAMU, would we maybe see her at OH when she returns?

Anyone know when Dixon will be returning? Not sure... but if Essix and Okammor can play like they did against TAMU, would we maybe see her at OH when she returns? Her offensive capability is certainly Top 3 on the team easily, if not Top 2. Essix and Okammor are still our worst offensive options among our 5 current starting attackers so I lean on her replacing one of them. I suppose an argument can be made Essix and Okammor have a higher efficiency than Victoria, but they are just as streaky and should have higher efficency as middles. I still consider Victoria a bigger offensive threat especially considering her total attempts are much higher. I also think who she displaces will depend on how her injury hampers her. If she takes Victoria's spot on the outside, she passes and blocks. If she takes a MB spot, she just blocks. A brace or cast make both difficult, but I would think it would make passing more difficult.

I just feel like our block can take a lot of pressure off our hitters which is why I'd almost prefer Essix and Okammor (if they're both locked in). Not that Dixon hasn't shown she can out-block everyone on the team lol. She's certainly capable! It'll be interesting to see how everyone is managed moving forward. All these injuries are annoying!

I don't see a match thread for tonight, but hopefully there will not be enough drama to warrant one.
