I know we've got hopefully 2-3 games left to play this season (knock on wood), but what our are thoughts on next year's team? My initial thought is that our system will depend on Stucky's recovery and how quickly she wants to get her back out there (and her doctors give the ok). My recommendation would be the team runs a 5-2 or 6-2 to let Stucky ease back into it and reduce chance of reinjury before she takes the reins on a 5-1 in 2025. I like the 6-2 because it lets more players get a shot at earning playing time and plays to the versatility of our players (Martin, Rothe). It also allows Stucky to excel with her back row defense and stay off the front row where she was injured (assuming she'd be the front row S in a 5-2). The limiting factor of these systems is we don't seem to have a clear cut 6 rotation players who can pass unless Hutson or Harden can take the reins there. We haven't had a 6 rotation OH since 2021 and I feel like it's time we find or develop one to allow more flexibility in these lineups. Bottom line: It will be basically impossible to run a 6-2 or 5-2 without at least 1 6 rotation passer (with this roster) so it puts us in the precarious position of throwing Stucky back out into a 5-1 potentially too soon. Also, if we are looking to pass with an OH and L primarily, we will need a very strong libero from the portal. Returning Players (as of 11/26)- S - Stucky (RSo) 6'2
- MB - Essix (Sr) 6'3 & Thomas (Jr) 6'3
- RS - Martin (So) 6'6
- OH - Hutson 6'3 (RFr) & Gravlee (So) 6'4
- L - Canaan (Jr)
- DS - Adams (Sr), Hoyle (Jr), Cornier (So)
Freshmen
- S - Parks 5'11
- MB - Auguste 6'2
- MB/RS - Rothe 6'3
- OH - Harden 6'3
- DS - Vogel 5'7
- DS - Lee 5'6
Portal Priorities
1. Libero/Passing
2. 6 rotation passer Likely starters regardless of system (young group that could play together 3 seasons if the volleyball gods allow):- OH1 - Harden 6'3 (Fr)
- OH2 - Hutson 6'3 (RFr)
- RS - Martin 6'6 (So)
- MB1 - Rothe 6'3 (Fr)
- MB2 - Essix 6'3 (Sr)
- S - Stucky 6'2 (RSo)

I doubt Harden will get the start. I think Gravlee will have a shot with Hutson, and Harden will get some reps, and maybe win out. BUT, if Mary were wise she'd look for an experienced, 6-ro passing OH who can terminate consistently. Essix will also need to step up and make up for the many inconsistencies this season. I like Rothe as the M1 to take some RS high ball swings and show her versatility. Canaan is the favorite for the L jersey, but there will be about 25 other DSs available.

Gators gotta get to where they are supposed to given this draw. If they don’t then portal dangers become real once more (and rightfully so). Results are required to retain or attract talent. I know I’m slanted to the “gloom and doom” side of the spectrum but the path to Nebraska is not beyond this squad. Time to perform. If not, hopefully there are consequences. This doesn’t apply exclusively to Florida but I understand that the hate will be forthcoming.

With Ellie possibly not returning, Florida is gonna need one of its DS to step up and take the reign of Libero jersey.
Although, I wouldn't mind Florida taking Sydney Reed from Wisconsin who's currently in the portal.

With Ellie possibly not returning, Florida is gonna need one of its DS to step up and take the reign of Libero jersey. Although, I wouldn't mind Florida taking Sydney Reed from Wisconsin who's currently in the portal. I thought it was known at the beginning of the year that she wasn’t returning. If she’s still dating the top 3 MLB draft pick on the UF baseball team, she should follow him wherever he goes (or at least that’s what I would do lol). That being said, she may be motivated by the all time UF digs and matches played records which are in reach if she stays. I'd imagine it's also got to hurt that her senior season started out so promising and she would be leaving behind the chance to live the season that never was. I don’t think a rarely used DS on a team that is known for its passing struggles is the answer Florida needs. But sure, more options the better. Canaan is the only DS on the Florida roster capable of wearing the L jersey at this point. She started out hot her freshman season, but I think she's regressed a bit and my faith in her ability to do so at the level we need is shaken. I mean even just her volume of service errors alone is highly concerning, but that can be cleaned up. Whatever system Stucky plays in next year, we can't expect her to be as fast on the court within a year of surgery so passing must be better than it has been the last 3 seasons. The coaches must prioritize this in the portal.

...does anyone know why Beason left? Development, awards, recognition, trophies, ETC. I think that pretty much covers it.

Hi, lurker here. Wondering why Bella Lee (DS/L) 2024 commit was never posted on the Florida volleyball insta as a commit. She is a club teammate of Taylor Parks and has signed officially... so why was she the only commit not posted...?
