Pepperdine sweeps LMU, 33-31, 25-22, 25-23. Geissberger didn't dress for the match. LMU had five set points in the first set and couldn't convert. They took an early four-point lead in the second, but then fell behind and stayed there. They fell way behind in the third set, getting doubled up at 8-16, then fought back to within one point at 22-23 and again at 23-24, had chances in a long rally to tie it at 24, but instead Ahrens put it away for the Waves.

I really love Aylen Ayub. I'm so disappointed USF doesn't have offensive options. She deserves better. She needs to transfer if USF doesn’t have lethal hitters next season

Eh, I don't know that one match, which just happened to be their worst match of the season, is more representative than 20 matches. Certainly, their schedule wasn't as tough as I would have liked. BYU is ranked No. 2 in Pablo right now, so they must be doing something right. I guess we'll see. They're doing lots right! They're doing all they can at the moment...winning their conference and dominating WCC (and some NCAA-wide) stats. Can't go back in time and change the outcome of that Pitt game, which has been their only loss this year. Unfortunately, when a team only has one test against a highly ranked team and they lose it's hard to justify bumping them up the rankings or betting on them to win against top 5 teams who have more impressive wins under their belt. I really don't think there's much more BYU can do to move up the rankings until they get more ranked wins. As you said, it comes down to the easier pre-season schedule.

Its not 20 matches versus one...it is 15 matches againat really bad competition that have to be thrown out. I do think we arw slightly better with current DS...but not a ton. Good offense simply covers lots of sins. But...lota of good. Man, did we ever serve Wee off the court today. That says a lot.

It was about the team's overall performance.

I haven't watched the match yet because I've been watching football, but BYU swept Santa Clara 25-14, 25-10, 25-17.

What a dull day of matches. You blinked, you missed them. Four sweeps, and not very competitive ones at that.
BYU 3-0 over Santa Clara (25-14, 25-10, 25-17). Subs in at the end of sets two and three.
BYU hit .426 (46/6/94) and held Santa Clara to .090 (28/19/100), though frankly Santa Clara is so error-prone, I'm not sure how much of that was BYU and how much of it was just Santa Clara. Santa Clara hits a heavy ball when the set is good and their timing is right, but BYU dug a lot of those. BYU 43 assists; Santa Clara 27. BYU 6 blocks; Santa Clara 3. BYU 48 digs; Santa Clara 38. BYU 4 aces/6 errors; Santa Clara 1 ace/4 errors
For BYU Koerber hit .529. She had 11 kills on 17 attempts, 2 errors. Heather Gneiting was superb with 10 kills on 14 attempts, no errors, for a .714 and 5 block assists. Ballard-Nixon hit .471 (9/1/17) and served 2 aces. Eschenber also had a good match with 5 kills, no errors, on 11 attempts (.455). Not to be outdone Whitney Bower continued her very offensive-minded play with 6 kills, no errors, on 8 attempts for a .750 herself. She also dished out 34 of BYU's 43 assists, led the team in digs with 13, and had 3 block assists. Livingston was the only starter that didn't have a good match, hitting .067, with just 3 kills/2 errors on 15 attempts. Kate Grimmer saw a fair amount of action towards the end of sets two and three. She had 4 attempts, 2 kills, no errors, hitting .500. Glad to see her get some playing time.
Santa Clara was led by Sangiacomo. She hit .238 with 15 kills, 5 errors, on 42 swings. Tulino hit .300 (4/1/10). Spaar and Schaffer were both in the negative. Spaar -.154 (3/5/13) and Schaffer -.158 (2/5/19). Nive Tuileta hit .333 (1/0/3), had 21 assists and 11 digs, which tied with Kat Georgiadis for the most.

Pacific swept Portland for the second time this season, 25-17, 25-18, 25-16.
Pacific hit .257 (44/17/105), Portland just .088 (22/13/102). The Tigers had twice as many assists (40) as the Pilots (20). Pacific had 51 digs in a three-set match. Portland just 29. Portland not able to terminate. Portland did outblock Pacific, 6-3. As usual Alexa Edwards led Pacific with 13 kills (.357). Lucy Carpenter had 8 (.278) with Ramonni Cook and Sedona Sherman 6 each. For Portland Jayde Harris had 8 kills but only hit .079. Charity Bradley followed with 6 kills and hit .429.

There has to be more intel on this match. I’ve never heard of Haylee Stone before. ?? (Sorry I was working all afternoon and missed all of the matches, though it sounds like I didn’t miss much. )
