I walked away from the BYU - Portland match when it was tied at 12-12 in the third set, and BYU rattled off 13 consecutive points to take it 25-12. I don't think I've ever seen that happen in a match before...

Pending a review of all the box scores, I think Rachel Ahrens would be my choice for WCC Player of the Week.

LMU has been in a constant downward spiral since the first weekend. Even if there are injuries they should not be losing this many matches. I'm not sure what is going on but it sure is disappointing.

LMU was indeed swept by Saint Mary's -13, -23, -18, for their fourth consecutive loss. Rice and Walters hit negative.
Harrer had 13 kills 1 error hitting .600 for Saint Mary's.
SMC hit .261 and LMU hit .143 for the match.

Saint Mary's does sweep LMU in Los Angeles, 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-18). What a rough season for the Lions! It started out with so much promise.

Despite Lukes' incredible match today, she didn't have a great match against Portland on Thursday. However, Frohling had 19 kills in each of the two matches, which is probably better than Ahrens.

Trying to find something positive to say about LMU, but lost on this. Serve receive was a nightmare, offense awful and jeeez defense looked like JC level, the roll shot should not be hitting the floor at D1 ball. But the absolute worst was listening to the color commentary woman trying to provide insight wearing a mask using um and uh every other word. Do better LMU.

I don't know. Ahrens hit .411 and had 30 kills in her match against St. Mary's on Thursday. Frohling only hit .222 against Gonzaga. I think Ahrens played against better teams than Frohling did, and she had better overall numbers. Like I said, I still need to look to be sure, but that's where I'm at.

I think Ahrens deserves it as well for the same reasons. This was a much better week for the WCC in terms of quality of play thank goodness.

I didn't see how Ahrens did against St. Mary's but I agree with you on that. 30 kills at .411 is very impressive, and SMC has generally had a better floor defense than the teams that San Diego played this week.

LMU can't blame the assistant coaches again for their mediocrity, can they?

Feels like WCC POY comes down to next weeks matches and the final BYU / SD match. Koerber /Bower/ Ahrens/ Frohling / Lukes?

I agree, the POY will be Koerber, Bower, Lukes, Frohling or Ahrens. Two big weeks left with USD, Pepp and BYU facing off.

LMU can't blame the assistant coaches again for their mediocrity, can they? I do have Loyola on the hot seat. Program really has fallen down hill, not the levels of pre-Tom black but still shouldn’t be missing the tournament regularly now. They’re 32-33 in wcc with one tournament berth, 1st losing season in a decade, and haven’t been above .500 in wcc since 2018
