Good for him. Literally know less than nothing about the Indian pro leagues but it will be great to see him develop his pro career. Great to see a hardworking, deserving athlete recover from surgery and start their athletic journey again.

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the schedule. I see lots off unfamiliar "cupcakes" on the schedule this year. What do you all think: is it good to give 4 new starters a bunch of cupcakes to get full on? or is the schedule a flop?

It does appear to be an easy schedule, but I don't necessarily think it's a cupcake. Lewis and Loyola will be tough. What I think Wade is doing is allowing his team to build chemistry and confidence. Those are two areas of the game that you won't get if your team is 3-12 (or whatever the OOC schedule is) going into the conference season. Hawaii will have many opportunities to see where they stand when they play Long Beach, UCSD, Irvine, and UCSB.

Yeah I didn't say the schedule was a cupcake I said some of the teams on the schedule are cupcakes. I agree with you though. There was discussion on FB about the schedule and many were complaining about the easy non-conference competition. I think it's a good idea since we will have so many new starters. Give them experience and confidence heading into the BW conference schedule....

agree ...
the reality is that the toughest competition they will likely face all year will be from within the conference, and the last month of the season is stacked with lbsu, ucsb and irvine.
not to say that hawaii would go undefeated - by no means. it's a rebuilding year. this team will take some lumps. but it'll be good, long prep for a brutal last month of the season. and it will hopefully put them in a position to be right there challenging for the big west championship, if not for an at-large bid.

Sounds like it's a gain confidence/win the Big West or bust kinda year.

Hawaii lost 4 starters and 4 All-Americans at that. You don't schedule tough in what is considered a rebuilding year.
Charlie probably scheduled this way so the team can indeed build chemistry and trust on the floor. Hawaii also hosts the Big West tournament yet again. Maybe he is hoping this builds this group up to compete for the title and the automatic bid.
But completely dismissing this team out right is also stupid. Multiple teams lost a lot of key seniors. Hawaii just needs to play its game and work in its passing They have the Serving, firepower, and energy to get those much needed wins.

For me, Hawaii won't be as good as last year, but I don't think there will be a huge drop. Setter Thelle----> Thelle MB1 Gasman---->Presho MB2 Voss/Maxwell---->Voss/Maxwell OH1 Cowell---->Galloway OH2 Galloway---->Chakas/Humler OPP Parapunov---->Dimi Lib Worsley----> ?
