The #4 seed in UCLA's region also lost. So 5th-seeded Nebraska gets to host rounds 2 and 3.

There is nearly a full slate of women's college soccer second-round matchups today. Last night, Michigan State defeated Harvard 1-0, and BYU defeated USC 1-0 to advance to the Sweet 16. The rest of the Sweet 16 will be decided this afternoon and this evening.

And they've already dealt with the 1 seed, so they might have a decent look at the Elite 8.

Michigan State took a 1-0 lead, but BYU advances to the Elite 8 3-1. I think USC was actually a tougher opponent than Michigan State was. With UCLA out of the tournament, I'd like to highlight Brecken Mozingo and Ellie Walbruch, who both transferred to BYU from UCLA.

I don't think there is a thread for men's soccer but the LMU-UCLA is dramatic at the end. LMU leading 1-0 late, but, UCLA had so many chances to convert.
It looks like LMU just got two red-cards with under 1 minute ago, UCLA should get maybe 1 more shot off?
LMU hangs on! Their 1st ever Sweet 16 in Men's Soccer in program history!

Florida State, Stanford and BYU are all into the College Cup. Penn State and Clemson will play tomorrow for the final spot. FSU dispatched Pittsburgh 3-0. Stanford defeated Nebraska 2-1 in overtime. And BYU came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3 in regulation. That's an all-time choke by the Tar Heels.

Clemson defeated Penn State 2-1 to advance to their first-ever College Cup where they'll play Florida State. The Seminoles are scary and almost certainly the best team in the country. That said, I think it's better for Clemson that they get a familiar opponent in a familiar part of the country (North Carolina). I think this really helped BYU a couple seasons ago when they got to play Santa Clara in the Final Four, even if it was on the road. I think having that familiarity helps deal with the spotlight that comes on the biggest possible stage. All that said, Florida State should still win, but I give Clemson more of a chance than I would give Penn State. I think either BYU or Stanford should hope that the Tigers can pull the upset because I'd rather take my chances with them than mighty FSU in the final. As for the other semifinal, I make no prediction about the winner, but I think it should be a good game. And I think FSU wins the title.

The BYU game was amazing. I have goosebumps just thinking about it. NC Coach said he’s never seen anything like it, and he’s been coaching forever.
I’ve got a problem: The soccer and volleyball teams play at the same time Friday 🫤

Brecken Mozingo scoring an Olimpico corner kick goal was my favorite.

The Final Four is today. Florida State v. Clemson at 6 ET is first and then BYU v. Stanford, both on ESPNU. In the meantime, here's the cinematic cut of BYU's comeback from 3-0 with less than 30 minutes to play. Objectively, this is one of the best matches in the history of women's college soccer.

Ok I know it's men's soccer but... LMU scored a huge early goal and has a 1-0 lead on WVU trying to go to the Final Four!!
I don't think LMU has a national championship, in any sport, in school history.
😭😭😭that didn’t last long .. tied 1-1 9 mins in
