That is a *significant* drop off in academics. He is Mormon so it is a significant drop off in tuition as well. i didn’t see him playing much going forward at Stanford tbh. he was a freshman all american as an opp tho? why wouldnt he play more cause he practically got that opp on lock unless they brought in someone as talented if not better

He put so much effort into saving the men's program at Stanford, but then leaves, seems strange. But I know nothing about him so I will shut up now, hahah.

That is really big speculation from someone not on the Stanford men’s volleyball team and/or coaching staff…maybe he wasn’t interested in an unstable program with questionable admissions practices? He was smart enough to get into Stanford and I’m sure he’ll have a great education and athletic career at BYU

He was beaten out. Does not mean he wont be a good player it is just what happened brah.

That’s funny, because i distinctly remember a 2021 Stanford men’s season where they were unsure if their program was even going to exist after seasons end, and because of that everyone played a pretty even amount where it was rarely if ever the same line up game to game…. Maybe I’m mistaken…

I love how everyone isn’t talking about how the #2 best libero from the Class of 19 (Cole Powers) is transferring to UC Irvine from UCLA. Assuming the reason would be he lost the battle to Cole Pender. Best pickup for Irvine and can make them somewhat more competitive with some veteran in that position

Power was also training with former Anteater Chris Austin during the pandemic off season so maybe that helped nudge him in that direction. UCI should be getting themselves back to good form if they can get their setter/middle situation figured out.

As an Irvine-Homer I'm excited to have a FT Libero instead of a converted OH play L. Power will contribute immediately IMO and hopefully Vorenkamp can go back to Setter and have FT MHs fill in the position.

True liberos have been overlooked recently and I felt like it was more Pender’s seniority and energy that was putting him ahead. I’m excited to see UCI bring it this next season. They have the talent, albeit young talent but still a lot of for that team.

They have the talent, albeit young talent but still a lot of for that team. How would this affect their status in the Big West in terms of success?? Its going to be a young to moderately young conference. A lot of unproven talent in terms of being starters and team leaders. I think what determines whether the regular conference winners, Hawaii and Long Beach, is what type of season Galloway and Olivier has respectively. Along with what the offense around them looks like. Honestly UCSD has a good chance to make a name for themselves and possibly win the conference if they ride the momentum of their Hawaii win into next season with so many starters coming back. UCI can also contend if they figure out what they are doing at the setter position and in the Middle. Sani could be THAT good by the end of his career. If really good pieces get put around him i think they could definitely make some noise. Idk about CSUN. Been going in a less than positive direction but then we can if improvements can be made post covid. Haven’t looked into who what UCSB will look like next year but they graduated most of their leaders too so i imagine they’re just looking for a new team around Wilcox.
