This may be the most complete Buckeye volleyball team I have ever seen (over the past 14 years that I've actually been paying attention)... Has a lot of the same qualities that last year's squad had, but now has a killer instinct and zero desire to prolong matches against inferior opponents. We're not gonna see the 5 set ridiculousness against the Marylands of the world.
Now they need to do this against a team like Washington... especially on the road. That's the next step.

Ohio State is fun to watch this year. Second year coach. Their digs are passes that are settable. The bench activities are enthusiastic. I love the lift of the DS when that get a stuff block.

First trip to the Covelli center. I’m1-0! Maybe half full. The had a scrolling line of tourney history and all Americans. I would prefer the banners. Assigning seat, and data collection in payment a big turnoff. I am a roamer and usually am in a different location each set. Like the replay screens. I look forward to major matchups and think this will make our crowd a bigger factor in a home court advantage when we can fill the place to near capacity.

Sorry you didn't get to see Stacey the Great, especially in 2001 and 2004 when she had good and generally healthy teams around her. Injuries really held the Buckeyes back during her tenure there, but she was amazing. Maybe the best 6 rotation OH ever, in my opinion.

It was 30 point scoring, but Gordon and Nnamani shared NPOY, if memory serves, in 2004, with relatively similar around 7 kills per set and .360 stats. Gordon was better in the back row, Nnamani carried her team to the national title. I saw the Badgers be victims of both in person. On the good side, the win over previously undefeated Hawai'i in the round of 16 made a trip to Green Bay in December worth it. The Buckeyes won an epic match against Georgia Tech in the round of 16 and lost one to Minnesota in the regional final.

You would have loved the 1990-1994 Buckeyes for balance. It was also fun a decade later with the teams built around Stacey Gordon's hitting.
