When all is said and done, despite my display name, I am always proud of these men and what they do at every event the play. They were close in all sets today and had their chances but ultimately there were just too many plays they couldn’t capitalize on.

I am heavily rooting for Argentina against Italy, not really sure why. Just think I want the USA men's loss to be made slightly better with an Argentinean win.

Russia is just at another level. Too good! Canada made it interesting and close, at least.

Going into this next, shorter quad, I hope we see consistency from the opposite position. I will happily welcome back Perrin as we’ll probably transition into a newer generation of players. Loeppky will need to be big for us moving forward and I know he will be. If this is the last time we see Sanders, Vigrass, Van Berkel, Bann, Hoag or whoever in Canadian jerseys, I will be thankful for their contributions to the men’s program and making us a top 10 team in the world year in and year out

I feel like Hoag would be a decent beach player. He’s just not enough as a starting hitter at this level of indoor volleyball.

If Poland is the matchup, I would probably favor Poland at this point. I don’t think Russia would handle Poland’s serving pressure as well as Poland would be able to handle Russia’s. Both super physical teams though. |

Also, despite being swept every statistical category was even expect for serving (Russians dominated that), and defense (Canada dug a lot of Russian attacks, led by 10). Our defense even though it hasn’t been perfect was definitely better than last quad. Bann is a big part for leading that department of the Canadians.
I hope this isn’t it for Bann, I’ve looked up to him for so long and have enjoyed watching him. Can he please be like Dan Lewis and play until he’s 40?
