Oh man. Just horrible. NC State is eliminated from the NCAA Tournament as the if-necessary game scheduled against Vanderbilt is ruled a no-contest due to COVID-19 Protocols. Imagine if NC State won today against Vandy. Could it be possible they wouldn't have been able to play the Championship series and this is a national-championship game between Texas/Misss St. now. Vanderbilt will advance to the College World Series Finals. Rice women's volleyball gets a mention on the broadcast! When Rice Volleyball had to withdraw from the NCAA tournament, there weren't vaccinations readily available as there are now. If you are too stupid to get the vaccination, you get what you deserve. Only feel sorry for the half of the team was responsible enough to get vaccinated.

nc. state/vandy game delayed. multiple nc state players will have to sit out due to covid protocols “I’m not going to talk about that,” said Avent, when asked if he was vaccinated. “If you want to talk baseball, we can talk baseball. If you want to talk politics or stuff like that, you can go talk to my head of sports medicine Rob Murphy.” Of course, the bigger issue was whether NC State players were vaccinated since some apparently tested positive for COVID-19. Avent — who said possible positive tests were “personal" — added that it wasn’t his place to tell players to get vaccinated. “My job is to teach them baseball, make sure they get an education and keep them on the right track forward,” Avent said. “But I don’t try to indoctrinate my kids with my values or my opinions. Obviously, we talk about a lot of things, but these are young men that can make their own decisions. And that’s what they did.” His statements IMO creates the impression that his politics are involved. Wouldn't be surprised if he is an anti-vaxxer and his politics had a lot of influence over the team. If the HC had suggested that it would be a good ideal to get vaccinated, I suspect the team would have been lined up to get them the next day.

Only feel sorry for the half of the team was responsible enough to get vaccinated. Interestingly, it's reported that the 4 players who subsequently tested positive and were the difference makers between being able to play and not being able to play were actually ALL vaccinated. But, of course, it's obviously reasonable to think those 4 vaccinated positive tests came because of the two unvaccinated cases which potentially spread the virus to their teammates. So, your point would still stand either way, just found that interesting. While the coach says his players are mature enough to make their own decisions, I wonder if his politics and ideology re: indoctrination had anything to do with them choosing not to get vaccinated.

Mississippi State and Vanderbilt ... Monday night 7pm CST ESP2. Who's gonna win? Vandy got a big break by not having to play on Saturday. That means they can save Leiter for Game 1, and still have Rocker for Game 3. That said, I am going with Mississippi State. Have felt sorry for them ever since my Bruins crushed them in the 2013 finals, despite their having about a 100-1 fan advantage in the ballpark. I see them as this year's team of destiny. Hail State!

It's not over yet, but Mississippi State is well on its way to winning its first NCAA title in any sport, as they have a 9-0 lead in the seventh inning.
