This stuff is as old as....well mankind, or womankind. Back in 2015 some chowder-head poster started a thread "The 25 Hottest Female Volleyball Players." volleytalk.proboards.com/post/1411276/threadThis was one response by one of VT's most, ahem, eloquent, posters: Whole thing reminds me of uncle Orval's boy, Kenneth, who used to deliver hay to Charles Town Race Track in West Virginia.
Kenny, as we called him, started realizing that the most athletic horses were, often, the best looking horses...much better looking than the horses back on Orval's farm.
Then, one day, Kenny got a VIP tour of the paddock, and he saw the horses without their saddles, bridles, blankets, blinders and bits and, for weeks couldn't stop talking about the horses being "so beautiful."
Sadly, he later left 'The Mrs.', after she caught him looking at HotEquine.com. He briefly moved to the Pacific Northwest where he was involved in the horrible Enumclaw horse incident (You'll have to google it).
Bottom-line, maybe some people should just never go to the paddock (or click on a "Hottest Volleyball Players" thread.)

Umm, no. that's insane. No coach is going to say "I'm not starting you at libero because your back-up has 100,000 followers."
That said, I'm not sure that many people out there realize how much money can be made off Twitch and Only Fans.
It you're really popular, $35K per month isn't out of the question.
Seriously.
It's scary money.

Isn't it going to be a distraction though, if they are all trying to double as instagram models?

Going to school, practice and now have a side job. Something is going to suffer.
Sure…coaches can urge their student athletes to focus on school and their sports but they can’t prohibit them from working on the side so what is a coach to do?
Coaches, who themselves hate social media, may frown upon kids who spend so much time there and may factor into who wins the job in a close race. If you are the star of the team or is miles ahead of your backup, you’re probably safe but in a tight race, the coaches like to see kids who will give their 100% attention on the court/field.
The student athletes are going to have to realize this and are going to have to refrain from “working” during their season.

http://instagr.am/p/CQy9J0FngTD In case you were wondering, here's Addie Johnson's roster bio: "Played in 15 of JSU’s 18 matches during the 2021 spring season following the Covid-19 pandemic…percentage-wise had her best hitting season with a .223 clip, but just 37 kills…played a reserve role for the best offense in the OVC that season, winning 15-straight matches to begin the year…helped JSU capture its second-straight conference championship...finished the season with 28 digs and five blocks." And here's why she's barstool's first NCAA athlete: http://instagr.am/p/CJm7MAPlzwY This is a sh*t post, go run through the rest of his story and see all the athletes he put on the roster yesterday instead of playing into lazy stereotypes.

Right, but instead of sucking on some old booster balls in the suit up the street, they now can do it to a much larger reach. Is any of this involuntary? What’s to stop an average student from doing something like that? If an average student is allowed to, is it devastating that an athlete can now too? If we’re worried about this affecting team chemistry, then shouldn’t a coach work to recruit kids who won’t affect team chemistry with it (by not recruiting players who will do it, or only recruiting players who won’t care about it)? I think it creating jealously between teammates over who gets offered the endorsement by a local business is completely different than it allowing SAs to engage in sex work. I suppose I’m definitely naive, but I would hope the percentage involved in those two scenarios are drastically outweighed by the SAs that can now create a popular YouTube channel based on their sport, or get rent money from a local business deal. I am sure they do it as well. Please explain how you are going to recruit a kid that may be the most innocent person ever that may mature and find out new things about themselves when they get to college and take advantage of it. Only Fans is a goldmine, it can be everything from raunchy videos with toys etc. or it can be as simple as girls selling pictures of their feet.

Isn't it going to be a distraction though, if they are all trying to double as instagram models? They already are as it is part of their daily lives posting on tiktok and IG. As soon as you hit 10k followers you can provide swipe ups, these kids operate on social networks the same way they can wake up and brush their teeth.

Barstool participates in sports gambling. There's a chance that these athletes are jeopardizing eligibility by becoming a Barstool Athlete.

Barstool doesn't just participate in sports gambling, they are majority owned by PENN National. They also aren't some rinky dink website anymore with lots of compliance people on hand to make sure they don't break and SEC laws so I am sure they have vetted a way to not put these kids at risk of ineligibility. If they do this the right way I imagine they will start pushing their sponsors on these kids helping them make a decent amount of cash and developing a Barstool Sports Agency/Marketing division.

The same way that you're going to recruit a kid that knows they won't be a starter right away and wants to earn a spot on the floor, but suddenly decides after sophomore year that they'd rather go play somewhere else right away. You do due diligence and try to find kids that will fit into your culture, knowing that you'll hit on some and miss on others. Just because there are challenges involved does not mean it is not a worthwhile change.

Justin Bieber famously said in an interview that he would never be that type of person to do drugs because he is a role model for kids.... You have perfect children that exemplify a Christian lifestyle taught and practiced by their families, the second they get their own freedom and are allowed choices that are made on their own accord they realize a lifestyle they have been missing out on or develop their own personality that may differ from the way they were raised or exhibited during recruiting. Remember, they are being recruited as children and become adults by the time they graduate.

That NIL is dangerous and wrong because kids may use it other than it was intended? Or that they should create more rules to control it?
