Justin Bieber famously said in an interview that he would never be that type of person to do drugs because he is a role model for kids.... You have perfect children that exemplify a Christian lifestyle taught and practiced by their families, the second they get their own freedom and are allowed choices that are made on their own accord they realize a lifestyle they have been missing out on or develop their own personality that may differ from the way they were raised or exhibited during recruiting. Remember, they are being recruited as children and become adults by the time they graduate. This is a serious question, what's the point that you're trying to make? That NIL is dangerous and wrong because kids may use it other than it was intended? Or that they should create more rules to control it? The NIL is one of the greatest things ever to happen for these college athletes eating disgusting processed meat sandwiches with American cheese slices while hoping to have enough per diem to get something other than fast food if you aren't one of the money making sports. The NCAA is full of scumbags and I would imagine they are scrambling to get rules in place that somehow define a way they get a cut of what an athlete is making or threaten ineligibility. Every one of these kids should be taking as big of an advantage as the can as quickly as possible before the NCAA tries to wreck something that has been a long time coming.

This is a sh*t post, go run through the rest of his story and see all the athletes he put on the roster yesterday instead of playing into lazy stereotypes. Ok. Here’s every female athlete Portnoy posted yesterday. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make.

The players with private IG accounts are gonna have to open those puppies up. I’m sure you’ll find them as soon as they do.

Umm, no. that's insane. No coach is going to say "I'm not starting you at libero because your back-up has 100,000 followers." That said, I'm not sure that many people out there realize how much money can be made off Twitch and Only Fans. It you're really popular, $35K per month isn't out of the question. Seriously. It's scary money. Thats true. Corinna Kopf made supposed a mil for the first 48 hours of her OF. Alinity made 500k a month but I'm not sure she does OnlyFans anymore and she might only be doing Twitch now. Well all I'm saying is it's ridiculous how many sources of income these ladies/streamers can be made. I know because I'm subscribed to at least 10 streamers monthly. You multiply that by an audience of 100, 1k, 10k, 100k viewers and thats sh!t ton of extra cash to be made.

I think this whole thing is going to be fascinating to watch--in terms of what's allowed and what's not. Or if there are any rules at all.
I'm also guessing there are a ton of people here who don't know how Twitch and OnlyFans work. They're subscription-based websites. I'm not really familiar with OnlyFans.
For those who don't know, Twitch started out as a live-stream site. Two years ago was primarily for gamers. If you have a teenage son or daughter, they probably watched people play Fortnite on there when it was all the rage during the Ninja days. Since then, it's evolved into other sections (some good, some bad) and their "Just Chatting" section (where the host would just chat with viewers) was taken over by women in pools. It was so bad they had to create another "Pool" section.
While anyone can watch for free, people like to subscribe to their favorite people as a show of support. The support is $5 a month and you have to renew every month (it's also free if you have Amazon Prime). If someone reaches "Twitch Partner" status (usually if you can regularly hold about 300 viewers and have a good amount of subs), the broadcaster generally gets about $3.50 for each $5 sub. So, if you're pulling in 10,000 subs (pretty rare), you are getting $35K a month. Yes, a month.
So, let's use Lexi as an example since everyone likes to talk about her. She could open up a Twitch account and tell people that she'll be live on Tuesdays and Sundays from 6-8pm. She'd answer questions from her chat and I'm pretty sure she'd have a ton of followers.
She could also open up an OnlyFans account. I think that's a monthly/yearly subscription. While it's mainly used by porn stars, as someone pointed out earlier, some sorority girls just use it as place to post pictures of their feet and apparently a lot of people pay for that. I do know of one popular woman on Twitch who opened up an OnlyFans account and posts photos of herself in lingerie from time to time and it dwarfs the huge monthly check she gets from Twitch every month. She's 23 and plans to retire in two years.
Sorry for the long diatribe, just figured that a lot of people might not know what Twitch and OnlyFans are.

FYI, I totally agree with your post above mine.
Didn't see it since I was writing my diatribe.

Neither gets in trouble. With these posts, there's no endorsement being made. And as for NCAA rules, it's not clear what's currently allowed regarding school marks. Depends on the school and the state.

Does anyone know the rules?
Not sure if using the school's uniform, logo, etc matters.
I'll go back to my earlier example. Lexi Sun starts up a Twitch stream. She does it for two hours on Sunday and Wednesday. She talks to her fan base via chat. Obviously, that'd be a lot of young girls asking questions about volleyball, possibly some media questions, and several old pervy guys. With that chat, she gets to only answer the questions she wants. She can pick them out.
If Nebraska and other volleyball fans flood her chat with $5 subscriptions, and she doesn't wear the uniform, is that fair game for her?
Seriously, I"m really interested.

Might even be fine to wear the uniform. Depends on Nebraska state law and barring that, university policy.

I'd bet it has more to do with the schools themselves having trademark/copyright/licensing/whatever on their logo and uniform, and the SAs not being allowed to include such things in their endorsement activities.

I am not a lawyer and I don't know a lot about copyright and contract law, but I do know that there are whole books on the subject. Much of the enforcement of the laws are up to the discretion of the owner of the IP through civil action, or it's license holder, depending on how the contract is written. If Lexi Sun were to say "I'm Lexi Sun and I play for Nebraska and will answer your questions for money" that should be fine, but it might be wise to have a disclaimer stating that she does not speak for the University of Nebraska or the athletic department in fact that may be required by the University.
