Yes, but USA is also much better at women's soccer than USA is at women's volleyball. USA soccer has been far and away the best soccer team in the world since forever. They have been, but a big part of that is because the countries that dominate men's soccer (except Germany) didn't take their women's programs seriously for decades. As in, their women's national teams were almost completely neglected. That has changed (even Brazil seems to finally be taking their program more seriously), and I don't think the US will be far and away the best program in the world for much longer if they're even still the best at all. Edit: I also think that equating the difference between US women's soccer and US women's volleyball to the difference between Sweden women's soccer and Argentina women's volleyball is a bit disingenuous. The US women's volleyball team has medaled several times and is among the best teams in the world. Argentina has only qualified for the Olympics twice in its history. The Sweden women's soccer team has never failed to qualify for either a Women's World Cup or an Olympics, and they have three third-place finishes and one second-place finish at the WWC and a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics. Didn’t Sweden also knock out the US at the last Olympics? This result is tame compared to what it would be if Argentina beat the US in women’s volleyball

Also, I forgot to mention this earlier, but it's not exactly true that the US women's soccer team has always been the best in the world. From 2012 through 2019, they were (maybe still are--we'll see), but Germany was probably the best team in the world during the 2000s (two Women's World Cup titles and three bronze medals at the Olympics). I agree that the volleyball team losing to Argentina would be far worse.

B players need some playing time in case they have to sub in against big team/players.

Karch has a solid team...not that I have high expectations or anything, but I truly believe anything less than playing in the Gold Medal match will be a complete failure...I really hope these ladies put together an incredible run and bring home the gold...

I just don't think that anyone can say that's a complete failure. Say China and USA are dominating and the clear two best teams in Pool B (and even the tournament). Yet, the way the brackets fall, even as #1B and #2B, they end up matched together in a semifinal match. I wouldn't say USA losing that match makes them a complete failure, at all.

complete failure is losing in the pool matches or QF (depending on the pairing)
This USA team isn't even favored to make it to the gold medal match.

Making it to the podium will already be an accomplishment for this team, more so for the men!
