If the US doesn't beat Argentina 3-0, I'm going to unleash my displeasure in comments on them.

I'd like to see how they'd fair in Pool A. They kept the first set close with USA in the IOQT before they unraveled. They did win a set in the World Cup too.

If they had landed in pool A, they would have probably made the quarterfinals. I would love them to pull off an upset, but I just do not see that happening. Hopefully they can make some teams earn their wins, maybe even a 5 setter or two?
Not having Fresco probably hurts them a bit. I know nothing of these two opposites.

You'd favor them against Japan, Dominican Republic, or Korea? I think Pool A has 5 teams better than Argentina. Korea could be close, but, even without the twins I favor them over Argentina.

We'll just have to disagree friend. I think Korea is a hot mess and Argentina would have probably capitalized on that opportunity. Their team is young overall and will continue to get better. Their only issue is producing tall enough athletes. You also have to realize that one of those three (probably Dominicana) would have ended up in the other pool. I don't recall what the world rankings were when the pools were seeded but I still think they are right there in the mix with Korea (in their current state) and are certainly better than Kenya.

Let's just hope US women indoor volleyball doesn't suffer the same fate as the US women soccer in their opening game. Going down 3-0 against Sweden, ouch. That's not going to happen with US volleyball, right?

That's not going to happen with US volleyball, right? I mean, probably not. Sweden is much better at women's soccer than Argentina is at women's volleyball.

I mean, probably not. Sweden is much better at women's soccer than Argentina is at women's volleyball. Yes, but USA is also much better at women's soccer than USA is at women's volleyball. USA soccer has been far and away the best soccer team in the world since forever. They have been, but a big part of that is because the countries that dominate men's soccer (except Germany) didn't take their women's programs seriously for decades. As in, their women's national teams were almost completely neglected. That has changed (even Brazil seems to finally be taking their program more seriously), and I don't think the US will be far and away the best program in the world for much longer if they're even still the best at all. Edit: I also think that equating the difference between US women's soccer and US women's volleyball to the difference between Sweden women's soccer and Argentina women's volleyball is a bit disingenuous. The US women's volleyball team has medaled several times and is among the best teams in the world. Argentina has only qualified for the Olympics twice in its history. The Sweden women's soccer team has never failed to qualify for either a Women's World Cup or an Olympics, and they have three third-place finishes and one second-place finish at the WWC and a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics.
