Long thread with some interesting insights on Notre Dame and the ACC. Apparently Notre Dame's grant of rights is locked until 2036 (same as the ACC) and their agreement says if Notre Dame joins a conference it *must* be the ACC.

I think the parts about what Notre Dame is doing to secure its football independence is more interesting than the discussion about the ACC itself. The grant of rights might keep the ACC safe from poaching for a while. I guess we'll see. If the ACC teams are off the table for the next decade or so, then that means that the Pac-12 (i.e. USC) may be the next target, as their grant of rights expires in 2024, a year earlier than the Big 12.

What penalties are in place for the B1G other than loss of shares of the Big 10 Network.

This is a very interesting article that makes the case that ESPN is one of the big forces behind the move. A lot of speculation (not in this article, as I think Wilner hasn't quite gotten to the point where he's seriously contemplating the logical endpoint of this exercise) I've seen centers around the idea that Fox and the Big Ten have to counterpunch, and the only way to do that is to poach the top Pac-12 schools, as the ACC is also tied to ESPN for the long term.

Of course they are. It’s all about money for the schools so there has to be someone paying it.

They talked about it last season, but now may be the time for Nebraska to leave the B1G for another conference.
Take my Huskers……Please!

They could rekindle the football rivalry with Oklahoma, the volleyball rivalry with Texas. Plus they are a closer academic fit with Alabama and Kentucky than any B1G schools….Now is the time to move!

I think the talk of moving last fall was mainly a vocal minority of fans upset at the prospect of a fall without football, and sports media that blew it all out of proportion for profit. There is no way they would improve their position in any other conference.

OUCH!!! Do you really want to lump Nebraska in with SEC schools instead of the Big 10 when it comes to academics?

OUCH!!! Do you really want to lump Nebraska in with SEC schools instead of the Big 10 when it comes to academics? You just blew your chance to join this illustrious list of Admirals in the Nebraska Navy.
